DD is 3 and no, she can't! She spilled the beans to daddy right away about his Father's Day present. "Daddy, we took pictures for you, but it's a secret!!!"

My 4 year olds at work sometimes surprise me. One of my little girls was having a meltdown while we were walking to the park. She and I were at the end of the line and she flipped out about something. She sometimes has these moments where it's really hard to get her to calm down and actually listen to you enough for you to figure out what is wrong. Well, I was about 7 weeks pregnant and I wasn't going to pick her up and carry her to the park, but at this point, the other teachers were already over there. I told her that mrs Jen had a secret and if she could get herself together and calm down I would tell her. I told her that I had a baby in my tummy and I needed her to walk to the park because lifting and carrying her could hurt the baby. She asked if she could tell her mom and I laughed and said of course, but not our class. She said "ok I can walk. I love your baby already"
A few weeks later when I started telling parents, I assumed her mom knew, but she didn't! I didn't think a little girl could keep a secret like that for that long haha

DS can, but my niece totally can't.
My brother once took er for ice cream after school and told her "not to tell mommy."
When my SIL got home from work, my niece immediately exclaimed, "I had ice cream!" and then covered her mouth and said, "oops, I wasn't supposed to say that."
LOL

She can't, lol. She told my husband last night that we went toget his Father's Day gift and we didn't! We were supposed to go on Friday to pick it up, but now he knows all about it, so I'm thinking I'll just give it to him tonight, instead.

I'm really glad my LOs can't keep a secret. It means I know everything that goes on in their lives!

I haven't tried to explain secrets to her yet. But she gives a story for every boo boo she acquires. So if my sister or husband is watching her they've learned to tell me right when I get home because that will be the first thing out of her mouth.

Not really. We tried this Father's Day but my husband still figured it out from their "not telling him" hints. The told him they had a secret and couldn't tell him but then when they weren't thinking about it they would let stuff slide. My oldest said I want my new shoes the ones I took a picture in. When he saw a picture of Dr. Who he said dad that's the one I dressed like. So the cats out of the bag but he doesn't know how cute they turned out so at least that will be a surprise.
