I can tell you it would be a DISASTER with Vi. I don't give her soup yet (except in a straw cup) for the same reason. What about oatmeal? A little less easily spilled, anyway.

@shopaholic: we started around 2. She got a tiny bowl of Cheerios with milk and she loved it. I always put a large kitchen towel on her lap and then her bib so her outfit doesn't get ruined.

Hm. I don't remember but definitely before 2. Probably around 18m like @freckles. My LO looove soup and is a pro soup drinker so cereal with milk was never a problem.

It's messy at the beginning but like all solids it gets better! We give cheerios too.

Think around 18 months and it hasn't been that messy! We give ccheerios, mini wheats, life, kix, oats, rice crispies. He loves the mini wheats

We started around 2. Cheerios and rice krispies.

Around 20 months. He loved Cheerios, rice chex, honey bunches of oats, Special K, and he's had a few sugar cereals on vacation. He was used to a spoon Bc we let him feed himself soup for a long time before that.

We started self feeding cereal around 16 months. Before that she sneak bites of whatever I was eating. We started with shredded wheat with just enough milk to soak the square but not enough to slosh around too much.

A has been eating her dad's cereal with him feeding her quite a bit, but only over the last 2 weeks has she been feeding it to herself. She's so messy, but is incredibly proud of herself She's 19 1/2 months old.

B shares my cereal almost every morning. He really likes Raisin Bran. There is no way he could feed himself, so I we just take turns taking bites. He is 14 months.

Around 2. She likes pretty much any cereal. She eats it with a spoon.

R started drinking the milk from her bowl like i do a couple weeks ago. it's awesome. we do honey-nut cheerios for now. we started around 17 months randomly? just a little milk to start to get the Os wet. she eats it with a spoon/her hands.

@shopaholic: I started letting H eat cereal with milk at 13+ months because she has always liked the plain Cheerios as a dried snack. I feed it to her and she dips her hands in to get more to feed herself. She is great with a fork but not a spoon yet. So it does get messy but nothing too crazy. However, she's decided she doesn't like the plain Cheerios anymore. Tonight I fed her honey nut Cheerios with milk since I was eating it and she gobbled it up.

We do mini wheats. They soak up the milk. It's pretty much his main way of drinking milk!
