Does anyone have any tips for charter just using cervical mucus or cervical fluid?
I am using the Fertility Friend app to try to get an idea for my cycle length and ovulation times. Right now I would like to avoid temping because I dont' want the added stress yet.
The app includes:
Dry
Sticky
Creamy
Watery
Eggwhite
Does your cycle progress through those phases? Mine seems to jump around a bit between sticky, creamy and watery.

Mine jumps around also, but I plug in whatever I'm having that day in the app. I didn't temp either.

For me, just using CM would be tricky. Last cycle I had EWCM after my predicted ovulation date, but that hadn't happened the cycle before. I think if you had regular patterns, then maybe just checking CM would be sufficient.....
Are you interested in checking the position of your cervix? That could be another clue as to what is happening.

Everyone's cycle is different. You will find that there will be just a few that you will use during your cycle. I tend to start with dry, then sticky, eggwhite & back to dry for the remainder of my cycle. I learned to chart using NFP & there are several different ways to chart VD/CM. I attached a photo that shows how I chart. I recently started using FF just to compare, track temps, & OPK but I have found it difficult to select proper CM observations.

I charted just CM and cervix position successfully for several months (ie, I could tell I was right by when AF showed up). I'd suggest using OPKs when you think you're about to O, so you have some backup to what you think is going on. As for me, I only paid attention to EWCM and Watery CM, since the others are pretty much not fertile.

I charted with going by CM only...it seemed to work well for me because it was VERY obvious.

Ok, I have another really embarrassing questions. Too bad that I don't want to post a new thread.
We had sex last night and didn't use a condom. I took a shower, but this morning when I wiped I got a lot of discharge. Looked just like an egg white. How am I supposed to know the difference?

I just go by CM. Mine doesn't follow what the app says exactly, but I do get 2 days of EWCM.

if its ewcm it will be very stretchy.

TCOYF suggests doing kegels 30 minutes post-coitus to avoid confusion.

Anything else I should look for with charting just using these signs? Really I am just looking to get an idea for my average cycle length and roughly when I ovulate.

@Thehistoryofus: lol I did! At the first little sign of it DH and I got down to business, even before that too just to make sure we didn't miss it. Then of course, the days after. We basically had sex 8 days in a row around the time I though I was ovulating (before, during and after) and that's all it took to get pregnant that month. We were on our first official cycle, second unofficial. I always laid low after sex and didn't stand up right away, and only used pre-seed which I really feel helped. Good luck

I do touch CM around ovulation time to test for the stretch factor. But other times, I honestly use a mirror to take a peek, and that's enough for me. If I were using just CM to figure things out, I would get more touchy with it and use a chart like Sugar.Biscuit.

Reserecting this thread- hope is ok instead of starting a new one.
Ok, first month off the mini pill. Trying to figure out what my body is doing. Even on the mini pill and again this month- I am on day 14 of this cycle, I get very .... Wet... For about 3 days. Days 10-13 ish. Like so much I think I am having bladder issues. Is this the watery cm that you talk about?? It has no real smell which is why I know it is not bladder issues. What does watery cm mean? What should I be looking for?!? Thanks!

@MrsScottish: This thread caught my eye because when I was half-heartedly charting I only went by CM, and never got eggwhite. Like you, I was "wet" for like 3 days, and we BD on those days and one day later, and lo and behold I got a surprise BFP after one month of trying.
