Just curious...for those mamas who did CIO, how long until your LO just went to bed without crying?

We started sleep training four nights ago (this is night four) mostly because her naps were terrible and I wanted her to learn how to fall asleep on her own. We were very lucky in that we didn't have to do much 'training.'

First night: cried/fussed 28 minutes, check at five min, 9 min, and had planned on a 13 min check but she fell asleep and stayed asleep til 5 am (8 hrs) at which point I nursed her and out her back in crib awake. She screamed for one minute then went to sleep til 7.

Second night: ONE minute of crying then 7 hours of sleep! Then we did about 45 min of crying/fussing/dozing off/more crying and she went back to sleep til 730, no nursing!

Night three: two min of crying then slept straight thru! 745 pm to 630 am.

Tonight we took a step back: 10 min of crying and one check at 5 min before she fell asleep. I am confused!

The naps are really the problem. Day 1 first nap - 16 min cry, 30 min nap. Three naps like that that day. But day 2 and three naps (yesterday and today) were 5 to 10 min crying then loooong naps, but both days, screaming thru the third nap even tho she is exhausted, so I get her after 30 min.

Anyway, sorry this is long. I am wondering if me getting her during her third nap at 30 min of crying (torture) is what is slowing her up? When can I expect her to just go to sleep without crying? And why would we be going backwards with timing before bed - 2 min the last two nights, but 10 tonight??

Advice welcome!!
