I feel like I have the flu and was wondering if there is anything safe for me to take while BFing?

When I had a brutal cold in the fall, the pharmacist said a big "NO!" to any cold meds while BFing.
Lemon and hot water...and let someone else take care of you!

Pretty much nothing except lots of tea and rest
My friend who is an LC advised against taking any cold meds bc they can interfere with your supply (the meds that dry up your sinuses can also dry up your milk). Hope you feel better soon

I work in pharmacy, and I had a massive cold while I was breastfeeding Jacob. The pharmacist told me Sudafed was ok to take, she recommended the 12-hour Allegra-D. If you're feeling iffy about it, I would recommend calling a pharmacist at your local pharmacy. They can tell you specifically what's okay and it's part of their job to counsel patients.

I always look up meds on LactMed before taking them when I'm sick. They even have an app!

My ped and pharmacist said Sudafed was safe for the baby but would affect my supply more than the other meds (which weren't an option because they would affect her). I took ibuprofen for nasal swelling and aches and used hot compresses and saline spray to loosen things up. Then like others, rest and tea. Get well soon!
