I have a confession: I nurse H to sleep and am totally guilty of doing it every time. If she doesn't nurse to sleep, it a total cranky meltdown, and I just can't take seeing her so hysterical. DH has expressed disagreement that she has to nurse (or be given milk in a bottle if I'm not around) in order for bed/nap time to not be a miserable ordeal. He wishes he could rock her to sleep or not have to rely on boobs/milk. But the boob is her BFF (Breast Friend Forever, lol).

I don't think nursing to sleep is super horrible...Is that crazy? I think giving a bottle or a pacifier is kind of the same thing- providing comfort/soothing with something.

In a perfect world, I'd love to put her in her crib sleepy and have her just go to sleep. But when she's tired, screaming ensues. And we are as far away from that scenario as we could possibly be, so I nurse her, and she is instantly calm and goes to sleep.

Am I crazy?

I also read things like this and it makes me think that we'll be okay:

Do you think nursing to sleep or comfort nursing is horrible?

The bottom line is that I don't have what it takes to CIO. I've tested it out and let her cry for 5 mins a few times and she got HYSTERICAL. Like no end in sight, face wet with tears. I can't do that to her.

H is 4 months and refuses any and all types of pacifiers, btw..
