Every book I read, site I go to and person I talk to has different ideas on what a baby's first foods should and shouldn't be. I've gotten so much conflicting information that I've kept Cobi's foods limited to a few "safe" options.

I went to Wholesome Baby Food - http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/here/FoodChartbyFood.pdf - and they have conflicting information with what I read in my Start Fresh Book.

In my Start Fresh book it says at 6 months I can give him banana and spinach pureed together, but wholesome baby says 8-10 months.

Some sites say babies can't digest grain cereals, some say oatmeal is okay..

I am SO CONFUSED.

I finally asked Cobi's dr at his appt the other day and she said it's more about what he *can't* eat.

This is the list of foods to avoid until they're a year old (from my dr):
Any dairy (milk, yogurt, cheese)
Nuts + nut butter, including almond flour
Eggs
Seafood
Strawberries
Citrus (oranges, grapefruit, lemons, limes)
Wheat (bread, crackers and teething cookies and cereals)
Honey

The papers she gave me recommend starting with: mashed beans, sweet potatoes, bananas, avocados, and applesauce. As well as mashed up food of what we eat.

How did you decide what would be your LO's first foods? What were their first foods?

So far, Cobi has had bananas, pears, applesauce, peas, carrots and avocados.
