My 6.5 month old is constipated; she hasn't had a big poop in three days and it clearly bothers her. She is trying soooo hard to just get these hard little turds out. We are doing purées twice a day, and I've been giving her prunes twice a day. What else can I do? My SIL said to give her a tsp or corn syrup. Um, NO WAY.
Just wondering though... In nursing we don't like to give them too much because we don't want a person's bowel movements to become dependent on them. How often do you have to use them?
Once she was constipated enough to be acting uncomfortable, I wasn't able to help her with any other remedy and things were just getting worse. I found that we needed them just to get her moving and then after that we could make dietary changes (and prune juice a few times a week).
