We bought a convertible Young America crib, and apparently they are going out of business. 
Now we have until April 28 to decide if we want to get the toddler bed conversion kit. DS is 18 months and certainly not ready for a toddler bed yet, but I don't want to be in the position of regretting that I didn't get the conversion kit. On the other hand, I don't want to get it and never use it! What would you do?

We had a convertible crib, but didn't use it because we transitioned her directly into a twin bed and passed the crib down to our son!

Our has been a toddler bed for a while now and it was nice not to have to buy another toddler bed. When we move we will turn it into the full size bed. But he sleeps with us so really it will be a guest bed for a while.

We converted our crib because we had the kit. Now we have to transition her to a twin or full bed so we can pass the crib down to our second daughter.
In hindsight I wish we wouldn't have converted. I'm worried the second transition won't be as smooth!

I didn't buy the conversion kit and now I can't get one, so the crib will eventually be hacked into one of those benches for our patio.
I personally don't like the look of a headboard and footboard that are slatted, I like them solid all the way across, I wish I knew that when I bought the crib!

We won't. Initially it will be switched to a second child and then we will just transition to a twin bed. With the families I have worked for only one elected to convert the cribs. It was an easy transition to the toddler bed for their kids but tricky to switch them to a real bed. The other families just went straight to a twin or full and had a much easier go of it.

We went straight from crib to Full size bed at age 3. I bought the full size bed rails when we bought the crib -

We went straight to the twin bed and passed the crib down (well packed it up to be passed down).

We plan to convert it. DS is nowhere near ready to transition (20months) and we are expecting #2 in the fall. I plan to buy another crib for the new baby but am not as worried about that one being convertible as we could probably just transition to a twin or full for that baby later on.

Probably will skip it with her. Just keep it as a crib for when #2 is here.

We got a crib that converts to toddler bed and then full bed. So, yes, we plan on converting the crib.

We'll be converting this fall. Bought the rail when we bought the crib. He's 17 mths now. We probably won't convert to full size bed tho

We bought a YA crib as well and bought the toddler rail, just in case. (We bought it when we bought the crib, I hadn't heard they were going out of business.
I like their stuff.). LO is only 5 mo, so we don't know if we will transition her or not.

I don't think we're going to convert it. We'll probably just hold onto it in case we have another LO.

We plan to convert it and bought the kit when we bought the crib. That being said, DS is only 14m now.

I'd love to not have to buy DD another bed for 20 years (or more). I had my bed until I got married at 22. We'll buy a new convertible crib for kiddo #2.

If you're having more anytime soon, maybe hold off.
You can just use the crib as a crib for #2 and buy LO #1 another bed.
But personally, I'd get the conversion kit even in that case because eventually the crib will become completely useless unless converted, unless you give it to a friend. -
thankfully, ours came with the conversion kit!! We plan to use it for as long as he fits in the toddler bed (he's 25 months and still in the crib though). Unless you have plans to buy a twin for him when he does switch (which may not even be until well after 2 years old, depending on your kid), I think it's a good idea to spring for it!

@brownie: A guest bed! That's a good idea. Maybe that's what I'll do with her crib rather than have a full sized bed take up so much space in her room when she's little.

eventually to a full sized bed, but we're skipping the toddler bed portion. I'm not spending $150 for the front rail. and we can't take the front of the crib off because of the design, there would be relatively sharp pieces of wood poking out!

Our conversion kit was only like $35 so we bought it. Haven't used it yet but plan on it. Or if we have a 2nd before and need the crib, we'd use it for that child.
