The idea of it kind of grosses me out and I've never tried it by itself, but I sneak it into casseroles, pasta dishes and enchiladas b/c I know it's healthy. But it looks so yucky...

I like cottage cheese. We offered it to LO at 6.5 months old. She wasn't a fan. It's not like cream cheese. I don't eat yogurt, so I don't know how to compare it to that.

@blackbird: yes they can have some dairy like cheese & yogurt before the age of one, but not milk.
I think I will just have to buy a little tub of it and see how she likes it.

I think it's disgusting, but a toddler I nannied for once LOVED it. She would eat an entire bowl and beg for more.

Oh in that case, she may really like it! I didn't know that some dairy is ok. the texture kind of reminds me of baby food since it's a little chunky but not too chunky

@blackbird: yes the only reason why dairy milk is banned is because of the worry that people will replace formula/breastmilk with cows milk which doesnt provide enough nutrients for child under 1. Its explained better here http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/tipYogurt.htm

I eat it by the bucket. Loved it as a kid too. It's a great source of calcium!
Also: I put paprika on it. YUM.

Love it! Apparently since I was a baby because my dad always says I was a weird kid that loved cottage cheese (he thinks its gross).
I prefer small curd and Breakstones is my favorite. I think the consistency is a little thicker like greek yougurt, but it's chunky.
Love it with fresh pineapple and peaches!

Delicious. It's like creamy cheese -- closer to cream cheese taste-wise. Not at all like yogurt.

I love cottage cheese and fed it to my kids as baby food prior to 1 yr. They liked it with fruit or purees. They don't like it as much these days (i think it's a texture thing) but it was a great way to get fat into them early on. I would also blend it up with meat or veggies and they loved it.
