I successfully exclusively breastfed DS1 and am still breastfeeding him now. Number 2 is due in 6 weeks and I'm just thinking, what if breastfeeding doesn't work out this time... What was your experience in breastfeeding your first verses your second child?

I had a TERRIBLE time with my first. It took 3 painful months to get it all sorted out, but I went on to BF for 13 months. With my 2nd, I was fully prepared to go straight to formula if it was as difficult as with LO1, but it was smooth sailing from the start and we have had zero issues at 3.5 months.

I had some pain BF LO#1 while learning to latch, this time it stings a little if she has a shallow latch but overall it's been much less painful, therefor easier.

Bad first month with LO 1 but smooth sailing after that.
LO 2 was a breeze until recently...she bites me a lot at almost 11 months old.

Had a tough time with my 1st... didn't last more than a couple months. But it was better with my 2nd... I BF'ed her for 2 years, 4 months!

First time was super easy for me but dd #2 had a poor latch which lead to a cracked nipple but we pushed through and it was smooth sailing after that. We actually just successfully weaned her at almost 2!

Glad to hear #2 is easier! I struggled at first with T but after about 7 weeks it was smoooooth sailing. I'm far off from conceiving my second but I was curious about this too.

@Danizaur: I had the same experience with Xander. The first 6-7 weeks were really hard, but after that, it was pretty easy (besides some biting issues later)! I'm hoping that #2 will go just as easily!!

This is good to read!! BFing didn't work out with #1 (despite 5 months of REALLY trying!!), so I'm hoping it's easier with this baby! I already know a lot more, and what probably went wrong, so I'm a lot more confident going in. Plus, I'm not scared of formula anymore, so that takes away a LOT of stress.
