I never thought I'd breastfeed past a year, but it just seems so unnatural to me to wean. My DD turned 2 last week and still nurses at least 5 times a day. Anyone else?

Not anymore, but LO still nursed a lot at 2. He weaned on his third birthday.

My LO is 19mos & we are still nursing on average 4 times/day. She's sick now & was over Christmas, too, and wants to nurse more frequently then. I don't make all that much milk, so pretty much every time I have to tell her I will need to make more & she's often upset it's all gone for that nursing session. I don't have a wean date in mind, yet, but I'm not sure I'll go past 2. I guess I'll just keep playing it by ear.

I weaned my son a few weeks ago. He will be three next month. He still liked to nurse a lot, but he handled it pretty well when I told him there was no more "mama milk". I never thought I would nurse past age 2, but it seemed so natural and he still asked to nurse so we just kept doing it. I finally felt like it was time to stop though.

I'm still nursing my 17 month old. She usually only nurses at bedtime and either in the middle of the night, or right before we get up for the day. I'm 8 weeks pregnant with our second and haven't decided what I want to do about nursing yet. Neither of us are ready to completely wean.

I love these kinds of threads! My son is 2, as of the end of december, and we nurse during the night, nap, and bedtime. He's responded very well to limits set during the day, but nighttime is another story. If I can get it together and night wean for my own sanity, I could see us going on for at least 6m! And I think it will be difficult to wean him completely, he's a big fan.

Not anymore, but I nursed lo1 until she was 22 months. I really only stopped because I had a miscarriage and even though I nursed through it, it was really, really painful, and I was over it--a few days later lo skipped a few sessions in a row on her own and I was just over it and that was it. If it hadn't been for that I'm not sure when we would have stopped--I had struggled to bf with supply issues, and it was so rewarding that we were able to push through it that I didn't want to be the one to end it, but I just couldn't handle it after the loss

DS is almost 15 months and we still nurse 2-3 times per day (wake up, bedtime and occasionally overnight). I plan on continuing at least through the winter. I'm in no rush to wean. He's really good about knowing we only nurse in the rocker in his room - I'm not sure how i would feel if he was always grabbing at my shirt, etc

My twins are a little past 2.5 and still nursing 3-4 times a day. I'm hoping by their 3rd birthday in May to be done. I'm going through one of those phases where I am just so over it. They tandem nurse and it just feels like every time they nurse it is just them fighting over their positions, kicking each other, messing with each other's hair, clothes, etc. I've gone through plenty of phases where I'm just over it in the past 2.5 years, though. I'll probably get over it and enjoy nursing them again any day now. But age 3 is really my limit, I think.

My DD weaned at 12 months, but started nursing again at 20 months when DS was born. She will be 2 in February, and I don't see her stopping again any time soon.

I still nurse my almost 18 month old. I hope she self weans soon!

forgot to mention, I would absolutely love it if I end up getting pregnant and it causes him to self wean!

I'm 21 weeks pregnant and still nursing my 18 month old at least 3-5x per day. I just successfully night weaned and I'm so much happier about our nursing relationship. The pain was getting to be too much. I can't imagine I have very much milk left at this point!
I don't have any set plans to wean but I'm open to it. I wouldn't mind tandem nursing but I'm curious to see how jealous she would be of the newborn. I also had horrible engorgement and oversupply with my first daughter. So I'm curious to see if having a nursing toddler would help or hurt that.

21 months, nursing 2x/day (first thing in the morning and right before bed). Sometimes more if she's very sick, or on a plane. She never gets bothered by my supply, so it's more about the comfort. I'm considering weaning when she turns 2 so we can start to consider weekends away.

Still nursing my 22 month old before bed. She's showing zero interest in stopping - even though I'm pregnant and pretty sure she's not getting much milk.

Still nursing my almost 17 month old! On work days we nurse at wake up, when I get home, and bedtime. On the weekend add nap time Don't see him weaning anytime soon and I will likely follow his lead. He has learned to say "boobie"!

Still nursing my 23 month old. Kind of had planned to wean at 2 but now I'm just sort of going with the flow and will see what happens in the next few months after that when I'll hopefully get pregnant again. She seems to be more attached to nursing lately and I'm pretty path-of-least-resistance so I don't foresee really forcing weaning.
Right now we're down to bedtime, overnight a few times a week, and then she is asking in the afternoons after we get home which I used to be able to distract her from but now she is very persistent! I am ok with that for now though I wish I didn't have to do bedtime every single night!

My daughter will be 2 next month, so it looks like we will meet my goal to breastfeed her 2 years. After I got pregnant, it eventually got so painful that I thought we wouldn't make it. But I reduced the sessions enough that I'm now okay with nursing. She nurses before bed and before a nap (if we are home). I seem to have switched to colostrom; she doesn't mind, though it made her have loose stools until we reduced the frequency. I'd prefer to gently wean before the baby comes.

14 months here and DD is still nursing about 4 times a day. She always has one feed during the night, one when she wakes up, one at nap time, and one in the late afternoon. Hubby now gives her a bottle of cows milk at bed time so I can get a bit of a rest, but I do sometimes have to go in to settle her with boob. She climbs up on me and asks for nah-nah, or points and taps my boob for it, I have no idea when she will wean, but it is a huge comfort for her.

This is all so comforting to hear! My 14mo still nurses at least 3-4 times a day during week and more during weekend.
It's Also nice to hear that a few of you were able to get pregnant and still nurse. Hoping to try for #2 soon!

I'm nursing my daughter who is 2.25, we're down to morning, nap and bedtime but it's going to be hard to drop any of those. I'm pregnant now (11 weeks) and it did help her cut back but it hasn't been the magic solution I hoped for (sorry @junebugsmama: this was my hope too!)

19 months! No plans to wean. My first self weaned at about 18 months probably because I was pregnant and supply plummeted.

Still nursing morning and night only for my 18 month old! We are only down to one side though so we will see how long that lasts!

Still nursing my wee guy at 22 months old and he feeds 4-5 times in a 24 hour period. I've now been breastfeeding for over four years and am pregnant with #3 so could still be nursing for a while yet!

I weaned this past July at 29 months old. I was over it and she could have nursed longer but didn't need to. I nursed my other child for 13 months and had basically been nursing for almost 3 years straight.

I am not but I nursed my two older kids until they were both right around 2 and I hope to do the same for my youngest. Great job, ladies! I love to read things like this that help to normalize something so healthy and natural!

21mo nurses, wake up, bedtime, and 2-3 times overnight On weekends LO also nurses before and after nap. I am fine with everything except the overnight.

My 14 month old nurses about 4x a day (more on weekends) and I plan to go until she weans herself. I nursed my oldest until she was 26 months and would have gone longer but I was pregnant and it HURT. I also wouldn't mind giving up the middle of the night feeds- my boobs are the only things that calm her down, she gets so mad when my husband goes in to try and comfort her.
