I still have to wear nursing pads and LO is 6 months. I heard some people can go without. I don't see this happening for me at all though.
Could you ever stop wearing nursing pads?

I only had to wear them the first 6 weeks or so. After that my milk stabilized and I never had leaking issues unless it had been 6+ hours between feedings or pumping sessions.

i stopped probably after 2.5 months. i found most of the time i wasn't leaking. only at night sometimes but i don;t really care. i just wash my bra in the next load of laundry when that happens. and i do laundry often!

I only wore them two times the week my milk came in.

I only wore them a handful of times. When I was on maternity leave and got a lot of sleep, I would leak. Otherwise, I only need them if I've gone too long between pumping or nursing. I wouldn't mind sending mine to someone who would need them. I have a nearly full box full at home.

I JUST stopped wearing them at night (almost 5months pp) even though I still leak a bit on whatever side LO isn't eating from in the MOTN. I stopped wearing them during the day about 4 months pp--SO much better!

I had to wear them until we were done completely, even when I was only pumping a couple of ounces a day. I probably didn't have to the final two weeks but I felt like the one time I didn't, I would leak everywhere.

@pelikila: @PurpleUnicorn: @autumnlove: @cascademom: I'm super jealous! I have to buy a box every few weeks, I think I should just buy them in bulk. I think I was secretly hoping I wouldn't need them anymore so just kept buying them one box at a time. No such luck!

My LO is 8 weeks, and I don't wear them anymore - I hardly get anything when I pump, so I only leak if I miss 2 pumping sessions.

I stopped wearing them after 3 months or so. I only leak if I'm nursing after several hours.

i wore them for a long time. i still leak at 17 months, and up until olive started daycare recently, i leaked a lot. if i went into an office, i'd still need to wear them every day but i'm at home so i don't care. i guess i just leak a lot!

Still wearing them all the time at 5 months PP. I usually don't leak during the day, unless I am feeding her from the other side. But at night, yes, I still leak sometimes. I can't remember when I stopped wearing them with my first babe.

I stopped wearing them during the day really early... Like, 6 weeks or earlier. I just stopped wearing them at night at 9.5 months.

Around 3 months pp I stopped leaking. Thank goodness! It's so freeing to go with out them.

@Bao: I'm 5 months pp and still wear them all day --- it's getting better during the day - I leak more at night but I'm scared to not wear them and have a visual leak! Eeeek!

I buy in bulk and I still wear everyday. I let down on one side when I'm nursing or pumping so otherwise I leak all over the place.

I think I finally stopped leaking enough to forego them between 5-6 months... it was awful because even with them I would soak through shirts! So embarrassing.

I didn't stop leaking until around 8-9 months. I still sometimes spring a little leak at night or if I'm not wearing a bra, but I was so happy to not have to use them anymore!

@prettylizy: I can't wait for the day when I go to sleep without a nursing bra on!
pear / 1992 posts
@cascademom: YES. I am totally fine with wearing them all day... I'm already wearing a bra so it's no big deal. But I am so, so looking forward to the first night I can sleep in just a big t-shirt again.
LO is 4 months old and I'm still wearing them 24/7. Same as @matador84 in that I let down on both sides so whatever side I'm not nursing will leak like crazy. And if I'm side-lie nursing I have to be careful that the pad is actually pressed against my breast enough or else the milk will just drip down all over me

@autumnlove: I only wore them twice too, very early on.
I even bought a bunch of cloth ones before LO was born because I thought everyone leaked... me, not so much!

I never wore them! The only time I've leaked is at night when LO slept longer than expected, and I think it only happened twice! I guess I'm lucky

Subscribing! I've been SOAKING through them the past two days and glad that I bought a 100 pack and that they come pre-packaged so I can throw extras in my bag! I have several re-usable ones, but they seem so useless and gross to use at this point!
honeydew / 7917 posts
I exclusively pumped and didn't really need them. I wore them just in case I ever leaked but never soaked through. After a couple weeks I went without it.
pomelo / 5093 posts
I stopped at 4 months or so, but I needed them at night for a long time. I just had a lot of wet sheets, which wasn't very cool.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
yep, LO is 5.5 months and I still wear them. I don't feel myself leak except when she's nursing from the other side, but I am too nervous to go without!
grapefruit / 4291 posts
Never wore 'em! But then again I am the person that rang my midwife on a panic thinking my milk hadn't come in as I didn't have the melon boobs all the books said I should have

@shopaholic: I am the same way! If you want good reusables, these were the only ones that I didn't leak through! http://www.epibi.com/
Get the super absorbant ones. Pricey but worth it!!

Wow everyone is so different! I stopped using them around month 5. Occasionally I get a few drops on my bra from the side she isn't eating on, but it's not enough that I worry about it.
nectarine / 2163 posts
I stopped at about 4 months? I soaked through 1 an hour for the first 6 weeks or so, but gradually was changing them less and less. I think I was a little scared to not wear them! I was very proud of myself when I stopped.
I still leak a little during the night and during the first feed of the morning but whatevz. I was getting so sick of buying 4+ boxes a week!!
nectarine / 2054 posts
I still wear them at 5 months. I probably don't need to during the day, but definitely need them overnight - even with them on, I'll often soak one side or the other and get milk all over my pajamas and sheets (usually if they're not positioned correctly).
