Can your LO count? What can they count up to? DS1 can count pretty reliably up to 20 and then he skips to 42 and starts making numbers up (forty-eleven). Ha ha.

LO 1 is almost 5 and she can count consistently to about 60. She always skips numbers after that.
LO 2 is 3.5 and she can count to 20 when she feels like it.

B knows all the numbers up to 20 but he frequently gets stuck in a loop, so counting goes "4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 6, 7, 8, 17!" He's almost 3.

DS is 4.5 and knows how to count to 25 consistently but he always skips 13. Every single time. I always have to remind him.

Lo is 4.5 and can count to 130, but that just happened in the last month and she gets the trick of counting now (that each number is followed by 1-9, so as long as she's paying attention she just keeps going and going).

LO1 is almost 3 and he can count to 20ish (usually skips one of the teen numbers)

She's almost 4 and can consistently count to 30 but knows up to 100. After 29 she always says "20 30"

DS just turned 3 and can consistently count to 100. After that it's hit or miss.. He doesn't always remember that 101 comes next, but if I tell him (and count a few more with him) he can usually count on.

My almost 2yo recently started fake counting and it kills me. So cute. Once in a while a couple numbers fall in order. 8 and 2 come up a lot:)

@LilSprinkles: wow that child is gifted! I have second graders that still struggle with this!!

DD just turned 2. She can recite numbers to about 12, but doesn't really have 1:1 correspondence.

DD is 3 and can count consistently to 39. She loves counting everything.

DD is 22 months and can count to 10

DS is 29 months and can recite numbers up to 15 but if we're talking about counting objects he can count to 3, everything more than that is 5 or 6

My son has always been fond of letters and numbers! He is 2.5 and can count to 29, then he says "twenty ten". If I prompt him with 30 he'll count to 39 and need "40" from me. And so on and so on.

My kid has absolutely no interest in counting, so even though he's 2.5 he can only count to 2 (and sometimes 3). It is directly correlated to counting how many cookies he gets!
We try, we read counting books, we cook together almost every day, but he's just not into it yet so I don't push it too hard.

@brownepiano: defenitely nothing to worry about. my LO has been really interested in letters and numbers but there are lots of other things he is not so interested in or hasn't learned yet!

DD is 2.5 and can count reliably to 10. We haven't really talked bigger numbers with her yet.

@travellingbee: LO1 is 3 and can count to maybe 30 or 40, not sure! I haven't really taught her numbers, but I'm trying to remember the last time we played hide and seek--sometimes she counts really fast and I shout out for her to keep counting. I think she got to 32 or so last time.

Lo Is 2.5 and can count to 20 though she gets tripped up in the teens (usually goes from 13 to 16). She doesn't quite get counting objects yet. Usually when we prompt her to ask how many something is, she'll stop at 2, or keep counting the objects multiple times to get to a larger number

DS is 3.5 and counts to 20.
Until about a month ago he would skip 16 every single time.

Interesting note about counting versus counting objects. They are definitely 2 separate mental processes. Reciting numbers is called forward number sequencing. Counting objects is counting a quantity. DS can do both to 20 right now.

Ds can count to 10. He is 2.5. He can count objects kind of but gets confused and just starts looking back through the objects, often ending at 6 no matter how many there are, haha.

DS is a little over 2yo and he can count to 20 pretty consistently. (1/5 times he might mess up).
Counting objects I think the most he's counted to correctly is 6.
