I registered for the Sealy Soybean Everedge mattress - http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11306119
We didn't receive it at our shower, so I am just going to purchase a mattress now.
But I'm thinking of getting another less expensive one instead like the Sealy Firm Rest - http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11459691. It's $40 bucks cheaper and seems fine.
What crib mattress did you/do you have and do you like it?

We went with a Serta from Babies R Us - one of the dual side ones so we can flip it over to be slightly softer when LO transitions to a toddler bed.
I know some people are concerned about chemicals in the non-organic mattresses, but I'd read that if you air it out for a few weeks, it shouldn't be an issue (not that it really was an issue for any of us when we were growing up!). So that's what we've been doing!

we had a Serta (and aired it out for a few weeks,) but then exchanged it for some soybean one. Liv H-A-T-E-D her crib mattress with springs. HATED it. I know infant crib mattresses should be hard, but this was like concrete. The soy one is all foam and now she actually likes it. When shes a bit older we'll get a memory foam topper (she loves our bed and the guest bed, both memory foam).
Truthfully, the soy part might be gimmicky, but it is less chemicals and worth the extra $40 IMO. All crib mattresses sold in the US are required to be treated with a chemical to make it inflammable, so you dont lose that unless you buy an organic one in Canada. I have friends who went to Canada to get them, but I didnt go that far. We aired them out for a few weeks, put a mattress cover over it, and called it a day.

@winniebee: I debated soy for awhile, but there's still so much that's unregulated with "organic" or "certified green" items that makes me wonder if I can make a truly informed decision on which mattress is actually "better".

I bought the sealy ultra rest from walmart and it comes with two free gerber crib sheets {although the gerber crib sheets are a really tight fit on the mattress}

I bought the colgate classica I. I did a ton of research before buying it and this particular mattress had lots of positive reviews online and came recommended by the baby bargains book.. LO isn't here yet, so I can't say how she'll like it, but its nice and firm and fits tightly in the crib!

We also have a dual sided soy one. LO has no complaints about it, so I would recommend one like that. We got it at Babies R Us and it was one of the average priced ones. Whatever you decide to get, don't forget to try to take one of their 20% off coupons with you!

We have the mattress you registered for.... it is so nice! Obviously baby is not sleeping in it yet, but it is super good quality and it seems so thick. I love that it's dual sided!

I just went for one from the same store as the crib. It wasn't too expensive. Not even really sure why I picked it....from what I read, a crib mattress is a crib mattress is a crib mattress.

I bought an Ikea crib, so I got their memory foam crib mattress. I personally prefer foam over spring mattresses, so we bought the same for out LO.

We plan on getting something cheap since it'll be a gamble if we get the baby to actually use the crib. When she graduates into a toddler bed, I'll buy a nice memory foam topper, similar to what DH and I use now.
