I live in fear of accidentally spilling some of Mrs. Bee's pumped milk! Especially in those first few weeks, when every ounce (heck, drop!) is precious!!
One time Bee spilled some milk and I swear, time slowed down and possibly stopped. It was a very traumatic moment.
What's the most milk you've ever spilled? What was your reaction to the spill?

I don't really pump anymore, but when I did I never actually spilled any. My husband accidentally left some in the diaper bag for too long and I wanted to kill him for wasting 5oz of it. I made him dump it, too, because I told him I might cry if I had to.

I knocked over a 4oz. bottle of pumped breastmilk and seriously thought I could die right then and there. It felt so...So...Hopeless! Pumped breastmilk is liquid gold a and 4ounces of it wasted is the WORST feeling ever. But, it was better that *I* knocked it over. If it were the hubs, he wouldn't be alive.

I've spilled about 4 oz before. It was during a middle of the night pumping session so I had to be quiet but I was pissed! And then I managed to do it again at work that week and then again one morning that weekend. Everytime for about a week after that my hands would tremble when I went to pour the bottle of milk into a freezer bag because I was so worried I'd drop or spill it again.

I spilled about 2 oz a couple of times and I didn't think I could ever get over it. It would take me about 45 minutes to pump that much. One time my mom poured 4 oz down the drain thinking it was an old bottle. It was what I pumped during my night sessions and I had just warned it up to give to my daughter but I went to go change her diaper first. My mom was trying to help by cleaning my kitchen. I don't know who felt worse about it but I didn't say anything since she had good intentions.

HAHAHAH! Brings back memories. I think I spilled about an OUNCE and had a cow. DH said he never saw me so upset before. LIQUID GOLD!!!!

I spilled a 4 oz bottle once and I agree, it was like time stood still. All I did was stand there and yell "n o o o o o o o " in slow mo. I remember thinking "now I know why people say not to cry over spilled milk".

We used playtex drop-ins for bottles, and once Rob Sr. heated up some breastmilk and proceeded to pour it into the bottle he had set out on the counter.... without the drop-in. So he basically poured a full bottle of milk out right onto the counter. I was so mad. It was like a full 6 ounces. I know you are all grimacing in my shared pain...

In the beginning I think I'd have to be talked off of a ledge if I spilled a lot of milk. It was so difficult to get my supply where it needed to be. Now, I'd still be devastated but at least I have a back up supply. If I ever spill anyone, or anyone else does, it better be 3 ozs or less! That's the amount I've spilled in the past, but only once.
@tina- I really did just grimace. I am pretty sure I would of spazzed out on him!

I had just finished pumping and had the bottle still attached to the pump sitting in my lap. I didn't realize that the milk could come back up and out when tipped at that angle and before I knew it my lap was wet with spilled milk! It was probably only an ounce or so but I was devastated and it only made it worse that I had to "wear my mistake" .

Couldn't you just squeegee it up and zap it in the microwave to kill the germs? No?

I didn't pump much before going back to work, so I stored milk 8oz to a bag in the freezer because DS took 16 oz a day. Once a bag was left out and spoiled. No idea who, but it was 8 oz. I was so mad.

When I was thawing some frozen milk I had about an ounce spill out of a hole in the bottom of the bag. I cried, then realised that I was literally crying over spilt milk and laughed ( but in a sniffly, kinda pathetic way!). After that I always double bag when thawing!
