I'm desperate to get DD to sleep in her own bed. She currently has a floor bed and new sheets and pillows just aren't doing it. I think it may be time to buy an actual bed frame. I found this and I know she'll like it, but I'm not sure if it's cute or a little too (scary) confining. Is it just me that's a little freaked out by her sleeping in what looks like a wardrobe?

I think it's cute!! You could always remove one of the doors to ensure it can't be closed all the way - that might make it feel less confining.

@looch: I keep picturing her closing the doors at bedtime and I'm kind of freaked out by it. I guess this means we're skipping that store (because I know she'l loooove it when she sees it in person).

@Adira: Without the doors, it'll look kind of like a canopy, which was what I originally wanted. But the doors are what make it special, but at the same time, it's what's freaking me out. Lol!

I'd be too claustrophobic to sleep somewhere like that, but my husband would have been all about that. I don't think Evan would like something like that, he likes more space.
But I think it's really cute and if you think she'd love it go for it!

D would love it, but then would close the doors on himself and subsequently freak the eff out. It'd be a no-go for us.

I stayed in a place in Brittany with a box bed like that, and I loved it! Feels cozy and keeps your space so dark!

you know your lo! If lo would like it then it's not too confining IMO. The only thing I'd maybe worry about is if your lo moves a lot while sleeping and those doors pop open. But I have no idea how those work, and I guess you could also just leave them open and use a bed rail.

It's cute but my two thoughts: 1. she will outgrow it faster than a normal bed. & 2. you can't really lay with her in it if she need/wants you too.

My lo would pinch her fingers in that constantly. Guess she's learn but it's probably take some trauma.

I think it's super cute! If I had kids sharing a room, I'd want to do something like this so they could have their own space within the room, a room within a room feeling.

I love it, and would love it now! Small spaces can be very soothing for anxiety. (Unless you're claustrophobic, obviously.)

DS would play with the doors too much. Opening them, closing them, opening them, banging them... it would be a total distraction for him!

I would have loved that bed as a child. It reminds me of the Fairytale illustrations where people lived in wooden homes and used every nook & cranny available.

I would have totally LOVED that as a kid! Perfect place to get cozy and read books. I would definitely remove one of the doors though, I can't see anything scary happening that way.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: She likes the picture, but she likes all the pictures! I think we'll end up looking at it in person because there's another (more practical) bed I want to check it as well.
I have a feeling she'll go nuts when she sees it. But you all kind of eased my worries

I would have loved that as a kid! I used to make myself a bed in the eaves space it was so fun and cozy.

I would have loved that when I was little. I assume there's no way to lock the doors shut either from the inside or outside - siblings would definitely take advantage of that if it were possible.

I would have loved it! When she outgrows it could she still use it to play in? Maybe you could paint something on it or get her to help decorate the inside if you decide to transition it to a play place later? I'm actually excited about the idea and I'm not even getting one haha
