My RE does day 3 ultrasound and it just skeeves me out that I have get one done in the middle of AF.
I feel so self conscious. I try to clean up down there so it's not as bad.
Anyone else have day 3 ultrasounds and are as grossed out as me?

Yeah, I hear you. I used to get grossed out by them but these days I'm not as bothered because I know every patient in the clinic has to do a day 3 so the techs are more than used to it. Good luck with your day 3

@travelgirl1: Oh, maybe over time, it will get better. My last RE only did blood work. This is my second Day 3 u/s.
I got my results. There was a cyst but my E2 levels are ok,
so we are proceeding with an IUI this month. I was worried about a delay.

@bluestriped bee: All the luck in the world that this cycle is THE one to brings you a baby

@bluestriped bee: yikes! CD3 u/s, not just bloodwork??? well at least this RE is very thorough with you. I felt weird with the HSG today as I kept thinking that I might still have some residual spotting from AF! Will you be doing another back to back IUI?

@bluestriped bee: Totally gross… just had one today! No fun at all, but at least the tech who did mine was really nice. It is true that they are all used to it. Wishing you all the best with this cycle!!

@lazypanda: yeah, I'm so happy I found this clinic. Yup, as far as I know, I should be doing another back to back Inseminations.

@bluestriped bee: Yes! Since they are first thing in the AM I usually try and shower that morning in the hopes that it is reasonable when I am there. I try and remind myself that they do this everyday and so its weird for me but probably not for them

I feel your pain. It's gross and embarrassing. I hope yours is quick tomorrow.

Oh man, I remember.
For some reason, I had it in my head that it would be tidier if I used a tampon and took it out just beforehand. Then I'd use a "feminine" wipe right before the tech came in.
Seriously, just remind yourself that this is what they wanted to do, went through many years of school to do, what they do every day, and what you're paying them stupid amounts of money to do.
They DO this. And thank God, because I wouldn't!

I've had ultrasounds done during AF and while miscarrying. I figure the techs and doctors have seen it all so I wasn't embarrassed. It's not so bad!

Giving birth is a big bloody (sometime even poo) filled affair. Hopefully this is just practice for you for that! Good luck my dear!!!

I have to do this in a couple weeks. I'm not looking forward to it. Sounds so gross.

Yes! I normally go in on CD5 right before starting meds, so it's really light or non existent by then, but I had to go in on CD3 once since CD5 would be on Sunday, and I was so grossed out, it was weird just laying on the table waiting for the doc and worrying that I'd just leak on the table! I def saw blood when they pulled the probe out, but I'm sure they see it all the time so I try not to think too much about it.

Yes. Not fun. Most of the nurses are discreet and quickly remove the wand's cover. But one time that didn't happen, and the doctor sat chatting with me while it was right there beside us. I felt humiliated.
ETA: I know it's normal for them and they're not bothered by it. But it's not normal for patients, and I wish they would keep that in mind.

@bluestriped bee: Just lurking but I'm so excited for your IUI!
eta, oh, and yes I'd be freaked out too.

I know the feeling!
When I had an US during AF the nurse put an absorbant big pad thingie on the table before I hopped on - much like a puppy house training pad! It was so blind. But hey, she does it all day as we've said above

Ughhhh yes, too many times to count, it is odd! Hopefully this is your last!!!!!!!

Omg, I used to hate those! Especially when they take out the wand and I can feel goo coming out. Tmi, sorry. But I was pretty sure I wasn't the only one, so I took comfort in that. The worst is when they have a student or resident come and u know they are probably really grossed out by it, so u feel just a bit worse.
Good luck with this iui!

Glad I'm not the only one. Yeah, the people who do them are really nice and I'm sure they are used to it.

I've had so many, doesn't phase me anymore. Just had one on Day 2 on Monday. Total mess! Yes, they are used to it. They do it all the time!

I hate this too! I have mine next week. But pretty everyone who does IVF has to have a baseline US, so if planning to pursue IVF... we have to warm up to the idea!! I think the anticipation will be worse than the real thing. @Tequiero21 -- you are nicer than me!! I'm putting the kebash on any residents, even though I know they NEED to learn. I am paying a lot of money so this time I get to come first
Let us know about your experience @bluestriped_bee

@mopeybuthopey: Oh, I wrote this post after my day 3 u/s. It wasn't too bad. I was just wondering if others felt the same way.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@mopeybuthopey: lol my hubby is a doc so I know residents need to learn, so as long as I don't know them and they are just watching, I'm ok. I wouldn't want one operating on me!
