@lilteacherbee: Thank you that is very helpful! Of course we are willing to do anything it takes for the well being of our son, but at this point I think it would be jumping the gun to yank him out.

f*ck no on the texting while LO is really upset. i can understand if the daycare teacher is tending to other children once in a while, but routinely finding LO extremely upset would really bother me. i definitely think you're doing the right thing by talking to the director.

One of LO's teachers texts me pretty frequently throughout the day, I'm kind of surprised phones are so taboo. Idk if our center or state regulatory body has a rule about it or not.

If it was interfering in her caring for LO or others, I'd be upset and discussing it with the director. Can you also make it known you want to be called if LO has an accident?

@Applesandbananas: I also text with one of the teachers throughout the day as she babysits for us regularly. This is another reason I know they have total access to their phones. I mean I don't like the idea of it, but I"m also realistic and know that no matter how hard you try to enforce a no-phone rule, they will still find a way. Which is why I didn't even try to ban our nanny from using her phone, I just set ground rules as to the safety precautions she had to use.

The rule at my son's daycare is that the director calls the parents only in the event of a head bumping type of incedent.

@Modern Daisy: did you get a chance to talk to the director?

I'd be really upset if I walked in and found my kid screaming her head off and no one even seemed interested in helping out. Does your teacher have other helpers who can come in when one needs assistance? I'd be really concerned about the fact that the teacher doesn't seem to care (as you said) and that you often find your child crying. It would break my heart.
