Question to all moms with more than one child in daycare:
What type of discount does your daycare offer for the second child?
I'm trying to research daycare costs now to prepare ourselves for what is sure to be expensive with twins, and I was shocked to find out one place only offered a 10% discount. Is this really a standard discount?

I haven't asked this question since we are pregnant with our first... but it doesn't surprise me that the discount would be quite low. The spot is being taken by a child at a discount when it could be going to a child paying full price, so it wouldn't make business sense for them to give a huge discount when there are only a limited number of spots available.

I wouldn't really expect any discount. They know they have the upper hand since one of your kids already goes there. What is the alternative? Sending your kids to two different daycares? It just doesn't seem like they have any incentive to offer a discount.

I'm pretty sure ours is 10% and I think I read that they only offer a discount for the second child (meaning the third, fourth, etc would not get a discount).

The ironic thing is that we were planning to have our kids around 4 years apart so we wouldn't have to deal with this situation! 
Is it crazy that I'm now researching au pairs?

From the daycare research we conducted, we have seen only 3% - 5%, if any at all (some places offered none). 10% would be awesome!

No discount, just priority for siblings since there's always a wait list for our daycare.

I don't have a LO yet, but Ive worked in daycares and 5-10% seemed to be typical. With 2 infants, it sometimes makes sense to consider a nanny for them because she would be about the same $$ and she'd care for them when they wouldn't be able to go to daycare because of illness. Child care is pricey!!
