My daycare is doing school photos today. Cheapest package is $25 and you HAVE to buy a package. We declined.
Did you have "school" photos taken of your lo before they were actually in school?

LO started daycare when she was 12 months old and the following month was picture day. We bought a package because I thought they were cute - and my parents/inlaws wanted us to!

Our daycare hasn't offered them to us!
We sometimes get presents from daycare that include pictures of him taken there though.

I have bought one of them. I think I got like 1 digital image for like $25 or something but it was a really cute one at an age where she didn't sit/pose well so I didn't have any other good ones at home.

Our daycare does school photos multiple times a year (they did them when LO was 4 months, and they just had another picture day last week). We got small packages both times; mostly just to give to grandparents. I think it’s a cute idea, though expensive!

yes she started daycare last summer and they did school photos in the Fall. There was no obligation to order photos if we didnt like them, but we did go ahead and get a package with a CD for $99, I think its worth it since we dont have any other professional pictures of her so far and she looked so darn cute!

Yes! We don't get professional photos done but we purchased the cheapest package from daycare ($35) and it's honestly one of my favorite pictures of LO. I balked at the price at first but caved and I'm so glad I did!

I started buying them last year when DD turned 3. I hadn't purchased the package but I let her be photographed and the proof turned out so well that I bought some a la carte afterwards. They were so much more expensive that way. This year I purchased a very small package, and they even posed DD and DS together. Even if they don't out great, I think they are a good keepsake.

Our daycare's spring pictures are right before Easter. I don't know if a package is offered, but I've seen the pics around her doorway/apartment. I'd buy them if offered.

You have to buy the package before the pic is taken? I think this is how our school is doing it too this year. It's sort of ridiculous though because I'd like to at least see the picture first. I'll probably buy it everytime, but still want to see proofs before forking over some money. The smallest package this year was $17.25, so we went with that and will just scan the pic or order more if we want more copies.
At our prior schools, you get a bunch of proofs and can choose which to buy and if you don't want to, it's fine. I think that's how it should be. One company also let you buy just the class picture by itself if you wanted. This was great because my LO was shy one year getting her pic taken solo, but she did great in the class picture. Another company said you have to buy a package to get even just the class picture.
We have bought every year so far though. I'm a sucker for pictures of my kids!

LO is 5 months and his "picture day" is tomorrow. I had no idea that daycares did this these days! (I used to work in several and had never heard of it!)
They take pictures of every kid and then send a proof for you to decide if you want it. I think we'll get some, though, to give to grandparents. And I'm a teacher, so I'm a sucker for those little photos!!

LO started daycare right after picture day. DH REALLY wants a class picture of all the babies she hangs out with during the day!
