Other than my mom, we had a couple of friends visit after Charlie was born since I stayed longer in the hospital with a c-section. With Olive we didn't have anyone visit us in the hospital other than my mom (all our relatives live far).

OMG, I kind of envy you!
We had soooo many people it was overwhelming. Lots of friends and family. Luckily the hospital has a family nap time from 2-4 where they don't let anyone, even nurses, come in to bother you, so we did get a little rest.
It's hard because you want everyone to be able to meet your new baby, but you want your bonding time! I was always glad for when my LO was hungry so I got to take her, kick everybody out of the room, and feed her

Only my mom. I remember being envious of people with a lot of visitors but now I think maybe that was a good thing. We were only there for the 2 nights and it wasn't really necessary to have more visitors.

My mom was with us in the delivery room and Mr. Marbles's aunt visited us briefly right before we were discharged from the hospital. We were only in the hospital for 24 hours! We had a lot of visitors at home... but for #2, I'd prefer to keep visitors to a minimum.

My family and in-laws came immediately after LO was born (we banned them from coming to the hospital until then) and then all of our friends WANTED to come and some did but I was so overwhelmed and in pain that I had to ask the hubs to ask them to leave.

Oh my god everyone and their brother came to visit me. Friends, aunts, parents, step parents, DHs friends and coworkers...at one point, my doctor came in and was like "wow, is anyone going to let her hold her own baby?" I appreciated that. And it was EVERY day. I was there for 4 days bc of a c-sec. My mom and aunt literally arrived when visiting hour started and way overstayed their welcome. It was jsut too much. Next time, Im putting a cap on it.

Phew. This is when I'm thankful my extended family lives far away! We will probably have my parents there and that's it. We're both totally OK with that!!

So many visitors! They consisted of family and only a few friends, but my husband had a lot of aunts, uncles, and cousins who came to visit. It was exhausting having to entertain them & the unwanted baby advice started as soon as they entered the room. Oh boy. Next time I think we will limit to just immediate family and be more open to turning down visitors.

I personally wont tell my friends about the birth until I'm home, Once you tell everyone its natural that they all want to come see you. I plan to only tell our immediate family and then once we are home with the baby tell everyone else.

Too many people! I had an emergency c-section so I was unable to see my DS for 24 hours. Everyone and their dog got to hold my son before I did. Sounds petty, but I was really bummed out! If we ever decide to have another, I am not telling a single soul that I am in labor! We'll probably make phone calls after we spend a few hours of quiet time with the little.

haven't had my kids yet, but i think i'm only telling my immediate family that i'm in labor so it'll probably be only them visiting me.

Only my mom/stepdad and my in-laws. We asked everyone else to wait to visit us at home when we let them know we were ready for visitors. We wanted to focus on us and being parents and establishing breastfeeding and didn't want any distractions or undue stress.

I think the whole world came. My inlaws, my parents, my sisters and brother in laws, my friends, my cousins, my aunts, my uncles... heck next time around I'm getting a private room. Poor "roomie" she barely had any visitors.

We had a private room so I couldn't have jealousy issues! We were there 4 days.
Just my inlaws, sisters-in-law and families and my husband's best friend and his wife. My parents and family are on another continent, but visited 5 weeks later (planned ahead).

Haven't had kids yet, but personally, unless I'm specifically invited to come visit in the hospital, I stay away. I know I won't want tons of people showing up while I'm laid up in a hospital bed after giving birth!

My MIL and step mom stayed the night at the birthing center with us while I was in labor, my dad got there not long before our daughter was born and my mom finally got there a few hours later. She stayed the night and everyone else left shortly after they got to see our daughter. I don't even remember talking to any of them I was so tired.

I decided that I wanted the first 12 hours without any visitors. Afterall my LO doesn't even know me face to face yet so I wanted to get acquainted with her prior to having people come and hold her all the time. So after the first day our family's came and we had a few friends visit. I had a c-section and got discharged early (thank goodness, I wanted to be home!) so we had the majority of our visitor's the following weekend and week. I was glad I decided to space it out...it can be super overwhelming with that many people.

SIL, BIL, a bunch of friends. Man. I accidentally flashed my friend's husband. Can still see the look of horror flash across his face when he saw my big boob/areola/nipple. HAHA.
I'm sure the room smelled like my nasty B.O. I've never smelled so bad in my life. -.-

I am only 15 weeks pregnant, but I am sure we will have tons of visitors, like it or not. I work in NICU at the hospital I will deliver at, so I am sure as soon as they know I am in LDR word will spread, and all my co-workers will stop by for a visit, plus I know all the LDR and maternity nurses, so they will all pop by. Plus once family finds out, my side of the family will all start making the 3 hour drive to visit. DH's parents will probably come out right away, but his siblings will probably wait until we are home for a bit. Not to mention DH's co-workers all have a history of coming to the hospital for visits. It will be a busy room I am sure, but I think it might be better to have them all at the hospital, than streaming through our house in the beginning.

Tons. First his family, then my family, then my friends, then his coworkers, then my coworkers. He doesn't really have friends...ha-ha but no, really, then more of his family and friends called to visit but by then ( a day and a half later) we were wiped out and had to give them an opportunity to visit a week later, instead.

I so envy you! Not only did we have visitors all day long every single one of my 5 day stay, we also had visitors every single day for the next 3 months! It was really making me nuts!

My best friend, FIL, SMIL, SIL, MIL, and then both of my parents. But not all at the same time, so it wasn't too bad. Plus people only stayed for an hour or so, so it wasn't totally overwhelming.

We had both moms, my dad, BIL, SIL, our nephew, and my brother visit us. Also, the day we left, my mom brought one of her friends with her since it was a long drive for her.

My mom, MIL and FIL were already in the room for the birth, and my BFF SIL came by later that night, and the next day with her boyfriend and my two nieces. One of DH's bosses and his wife also stopped in. Most of our friends/family live at least 2 hrs away.
