@rahlyrah: I definitely think for me it's a honeymoon period and reality will hit me when I wean!

I'm 3 weeks pp and am 8 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight, so for me it's helping.

I'm not sure it made a difference for me. I lost my baby weight pretty quickly but stopped dead at the pre-preg weight (still 20 lbs above where I'd like to be). I haven't been able to budge that at all, LO is almost 2 and BF until 18mo. but I do think BF helped me at the beginning at least.

hindered! Took me six months to get to my pp weight though thankfully i fit into my pp clothes sooner than that-- i've weaned now at 12 months and my appetite from bfing is gone and i'm dropping 1 lbs a week even tho i'm not on a workout or food regiment.

@lawbee11: yes this. I lost most of the 40 I gained within the first few weeks but have hung onto some belly fat and 5 lbs still. I'm almost 9 m pp and still BFing.

Hindered, overall. When my daughter would ramp up her feeds, I'd put on weight. I was below prepregnancy weight a few weeks after delivery, but gained about 12 pounds while breastfeeding. My body didn't want to access those fat stores, so dieting was really hard. I've managed to lose it and now continue to chip away at my last 20 pounds, but only now that we're almost done nursing.

For me, it's helping. I'm just 4 pounds above pre-pregnancy weight at 3 weeks post partum tomorrow. However, I only gained 24 pounds and had a nearly 9 pound baby.

I voted other because while I think it helped especially between 3 and 5 months pp when I lost some weight while doing nothing different, I still cling to 7-10lbs and I think it's partly from breastfeeding and my much larger heavier boobs now!
