Did the mini-pill impact your supply?
My doc prescribed it for me at my request at my 6w PP visit, but I haven't taken it yet b/c I'm worried my milk supply will diminish. So, yeah, there's lots of sex going on in our house right now. Hahah, not!

@autumnlove: An LC told me that it does for many women so now I'm paranoid!

Not sure if it was the mini pill or my period that did it since they started about the same time, but one of them sure did a number on it.

I took it for 6 weeks until I was able to get the Mirena, and I didn't notice any difference in my supply.

I noticed that it diminished my supply a little the first week. I couldn't tell if it was bc of the minipill or if I was dehydrated.

no wonder! mine dropped a lot and its around the time i started to take it. my doctor never warned me this as side effect. sigh.

I stared the mini-pill and returned to work at the same time. I experienced a drop in supply but associate that with a severe change in the work environment while I was on maternity leave (prior to leave environment was very friendly, during my leave my replacement got toxic and so I returned to a very stressful environment) because I stopped taking the mini-pill after about 1m but was never to restart my supply as I would have expected.

Haha, you're having all the sex, huh @winniebee?
I don't plan on going on birth control for a while just because of the possible side effects of diminished supply.

I've been on it for about 12 weeks and haven't noticed any change in my supply.

My NP said I had to use condoms for the first month until it was effective, and then use condoms again as soon as I start introducing other foods than breastmilk for it to still be effective. That's too scary for me since my doc from my c-section said my uterus could explode if I get pregnant this year.... I am just skipping the mini pill and using condoms always.
She gave me the mini pill Rx just in case, but I told her I didn't want to start until I really had breastfeeding under control. She said OK.

@pastemoo: Your uterus could explode? How's that for birth control???
At first I thought we would just use temping or pull and pray method until we want to TTC again (it took awhile to get preggo and I thought I didn't care when I got pregnant again). However, the whole bedrest thing and caring for a newborn made me realize pretty quickly that we do not want to get pregnant again for at LEAST a year.

I heard bad stories from my breastfeeding group so I decided to not take it.

It didn't affect my supply at all, I love it- I feel good, which is more than I can say for the regular pill. I did have about 3 days of spotting when I started it 7 weeks pp, but nothing since.
Going back to work affected my supply most of all. Stress = Bad.

@winniebee: I've also got an unused prescription for the mini-pill. We are currently pull and pray, plus I'm EBF, plus I wouldn't be devastated if I got pregnant right now....it's just not the plan.

I have heard it diminishes supply. My BFF took it at about 8 weeks pp and her supply dipped so low she had to use half formula... and it never came back!
Right now we are not using any sort of BC but this thread is making me nervous! I don't want to be the girl with irish twins!

i'm so torn. i called my doc and she said it shouldn't diminish my supply and advised me to continue to take it.
