and was it a sticky baby? I'm curious on the # of people on here that did. I'm having mine on Monday, then sometime in the next few weeks going back to the gyno to talk about options.

I had 2 HSG's and didn't get pregnant after either of them. Well, crap, now I want a banana muffin!

@Snowdrop: yep, I did! I got my sticky BFP my HSG cycle.
@babycanuck: Good luck on Monday!

My sister did! I did want to add, though, that while her test came out completely normal she bled a TON after and the doctor thought she maybe really needed her pipes cleaned (gross, I know). It was also paired with an IUI after.
@babycanuck: Good luck on Monday!

My friend had a HSG, then started clomid the next month and got BFP first try.

Unfortunately after I got my HSG, DH and I had a fight and didn't want to BD, so we missed out on post HSG effects.

Nope. And that was actually my last month of trying since we decided not to go through with fertility treatments.

Yes I did. I'm pretty convinced it flushed things out and that's what led to my BFP.

@BakerBee: I bled a TON, too, and got an infection from mine. Turns out there was a lot of crap up there that was not helping implantation. Once I got it all cleared up, this baby stuck around!

@MapleMoose: I knew there was someone else around here who did, too, but I couldn't remember who. Yay for a good pipe cleaning

@LovelyPlum: @BakerBee: it is okay to use tampons afterward for the bleeding or should something else be used?

@babycanuck: I didn't have any bleeding. A little discharge stuff right after and small amounts of spotting the next two days. But no full on bleeding.

@LindsayInNY: okay cool. I'm nervous about going on my own and thinking the worst lol

@babycanuck: she used a pad (it was Thanksgiving so I got a running commentary), but I think she was just nervous to put something up there.

Yes It was a chemical but still I'm positive the HSG did some good!

@babycanuck: no tampons try said, only pads, which they give you. I didn't bleed but I spotted enough that I saw it when I wiped for te rest of the day.
I did mine 3 days ago and am waiting to see of this could be our month. I too have heard that you can be more fertile afterwards. I am also on Clomid though.

I love banana muffins. We didn't try the month I had the HSG.
I didn't bleed at all. I went back to work afterwards. They had me take an antibiotic before and a pain killer.
I felt pretty much fine afterwards...just a bit quiet and reflective. I have a male RE so I felt kind of vulnerable and weird, but I was fine.

They told me to take 2 advil with a meal an hour before. It's first thing in the morning so I'll hop on the train home after and relax for the day and bake some banana muffins (I made some last night, hence that choice lol)

@babycanuck: my doctor told me to use pads, not tampons. I passed a bunch of clots for about 48 hours. Tampons wouldn't have done me any good for that, and I was happy to just let things clean themselves out without a tampon getting in the way.
I hope that I didn't freak you out! Honestly, most people don't bleed as much as I did. I was told to wear a panty liner, in case some of the dye leaked. When I checked the pad a few minutes after my test, I totally freaked-I was not prepared to bleed AT ALL. Just wanted to give you a heads up that it's possible (though not likely!) I hope that you have a good experience and get great news.
@CupQuakeWalk: hoping for a great cycle for you!

@babycanuck: I was super nervous beforehand because I was alone! The Valium definitely helped... Honestly, I thought a pap is more painful (when they swab you) than this was. Maybe it's different if you have blockage or not, I don't know? I wasn't in stirrups either which was nice.
ETA: I wore a pad that afternoon immediately afterwards. Wore a panty liner the next two days, just in case. I had prescription Ibuprofen (800mg) so I took one an hour before. You're safe taking up to 4 Advil beforehand so maybe take 3, just for a little extra?

I wish I would have wore a panty liner or something. The doctor said he had to use quite a bit of the contrast...and you know how thrilled I am for stuff leaking out of me. YUCK. I used the bathroom at their facility and tried to kegel out as much as possible.

@babycanuck: No, but that's because I had endometriosis that hadn't been treated yet, so it would have been impossible for me. My doctor said it definitely does increase the chances if there are no other problems!

I did get a bfp the cycle of my hsg, and it was my only sticky pregnancy out of 5 so far. But it was also the only bfp I've had on 100mg clomid and I think it's more likely to be due to that than the hsg. My hsg was normal and no bleeding after.

Hey hey!
All done - not nearly as bad as I expected, I think I psyched myself out. I didn't sleep at all lol
From the looks of what was on the screen, my uterus is bicornuate (partial). I don't know if that's a factor of not getting KU. My tubes are clear and the gyno is away until the 18th, then I'll get an appt for results of HSG, ultrasound and blood work.
They told me no sex tonight due to higher changes of infection, which totally sucks lol so i'll have to wait it out one more day.

@babycanuck: so glad to hear that! I hope that you can get a clear picture when your OB comes back. But at least it's done

Glad it went well and that the tubes are clear. I hope the partial ute isn't a problem. I think the host of Pregnant in Heels has the same thing and she has three children I believe. Here's hoping!
