Just picked up our daughter... her preschool ends at 4 pm! So many local programs only offer half a day or end early... it's so hard to get all of your work done in time.
I think there are a lot of SAH and WAH parents in our neighborhood, so a lot of daycares and preschools don't bother offering a full day. It's probably more profitable for them, but it's a lot less convenient for working parents!
Did you have a hard time finding full-time daycare or preschool?

no, i think most centers close around 6pm here.

It's hard to get a spot in daycares around here, but they are all full-time. Preschools are just what you've described so it's unlikely we'll send DD to preschool. For that reason, it was important to us to have her at a curriculum-based center.

Preschool is more difficult, it usually isn't full day and you have to supplement with before and aftercare.

It is the same in our neighbourhood with preschool. Daycare usually runs until 6 so that is okay, but preschool is a pain!

We chose a daycare that offers preschool because of this. Our center closes at 6pm.

We're having a tough time finding care that will work for our schedules. Sweetie gets off work at 7pm. I get off work whenever we're done seeing patients for the day....could be 3:30p, could be 7:45p; it varies quite a bit.
Most of the infant care providers around us seem to close at 6. Sweetie is trying to get approval to change his work schedule, but, the whole thing is stressful.
