Private room. It's the standard at our hospital, but if it wasn't I would have paid whatever they wanted me to to secure a private room.

Private. I don't think any hospitals around here have shared rooms anymore.

Most of the rooms at our hospital are private so that's what I had.

Paid up for a private room. It's first come first serve, otherwise you're in a shared room. Standard in NYC.

Shared. It was horrible! My lo as a newborn had an adorable soft cry, but we shared a room with a baby that screamed and screamed. I wanted to get out of the hospital asap.

I had a private room, but our hospital does have shared rooms. I was in a shared room for about an hour but my dr was like oh hell no, get her somewhere private. I had twins and had had a crazy birth and she wanted me to have my own space. I actually ended up in antepartum which was around the corner from the other new mom rooms.

Private was the only option at the hospital .

Our hospital only had private rooms. They're also all-in-one rooms (you labor, deliver, and recover/room in with the new baby in the same room) so you never have to move around once you're there unless it's to the OR for a C-section (but you'd go back to your original room when it's over).

Triage was shared, Delivery was private, recovery could be shared, but there wasn't enough people for me to have to share.

I had a C-section, and the private rooms were $800 per night because all the $500 rooms were gone. Given that I was looking at a 5 night stay, paying $4000 for a room was not something I had any interest in doing so I got a shared room. There ended up being no one else in the room for my whole stay so I had a huge room with a Central Park view for zero dollars. It was awesome.

All rooms were private. We ended up also paying extra for a suite so we had more room.

All rooms were private. I cannot imagine sharing and can't believe they are so common. But I also can't imagine paying thousands extra for it, so glad my hospital only has private.

Our rooms were private. They start with triage rooms, then labor rooms (baby stays in the room with you the whole time), then a few hours after the birth you're transferred to postpartum rooms (again baby stays with you the whole time). I couldn't imagine sharing a room.

Private. Don't think they have any shared rooms. If they did I would have paid whatever necessary to secure a private room.

Shared but no one else was in it so it was like a private room!!! We lucked out

Private. There are no shared rooms. I cannot imagine having to share a room after having a baby.

I delivered in a private room (though I laboured for about 8 hours on an antenatal ward with god knows how many beds). But shortly after baby was born it was straight off to my shared room with 5 other women and babies. It was carnage!

labor & delivery rooms are private with post partum having the option to share if needed, but it was rare at my hospital. it was so busy when i delivered that i was actually in an antepartum room my whole stay and they ended up never having us share either! they said when they do start having people share, it was usually staggered so hopefully it was only a few hours of sharing. the hospital i will deliver DD2 at is all private.

Private but no shower!
This time the hospital has mostly private rooms with shared that are actually shared on a very rare occasion. They said they try to keep the shared rooms open for moms of multiples so they have more space.

Our entire hospital is private besides triage. I guess there was a chance for someone else to be in recovery with me but no one was.

Ward rooms are Covered 100% by Provincial health care and are 3 women and 3 babies.
My insurance covered semi private but I paid for a private room ($40 per night) to avoid being in a room with anyone else.

The hospital in NY had private and shared rooms, we paid for a private room.
The hospital in TX only had private rooms (I was even on a different floor because I had a scheduled C-section. I heard the other rooms are amazing)

LO1: Triage had three beds. I spent four hours there with several women coming in and out. Private L&D. Shared recovery room. The staff insisted someone would be coming in at any time but nobody did. It sucked to be on edge waiting though.
LO2: Private everything. I didn't even see another woman or hear another baby while I was there.

Paid for a private room and happy that I did. I find this to be a big city thing. Most people I know from suburban areas don’t have to deal with shared rooms.
