I didn't know that! I learned while pregnant. I had no idea how painful bf would be. I think if people knew there would be a higher success rate (if they knew how painful frustrating and difficult it can be at first)... then they wouldn't feel like something is wrong when they get excruciating clogs like I did!... or have to suffer through newborn toe-curling nipple pain...

I did know because I had thyroid issues in my teens and high prolactin!

I was surprised by this when my milk came in!!

Haha before being pregnant I thought it would be like a tap that the milk just came out of one spot, then I found out that milk can go in many directions!!

I didn't know it before BF'ing either! The first time I pumped, I was shocked to see milk squirting out from several places, all in different directions. DH and I couldn't stop laughing about it!

We were both shocked that it wasn't a single stream!!!

It still shocks me and my LO is a year old!!!

I didn't know so many things about breastfeeding! Including this!

I had no idea until I started leaking while I had lanolin on my nipples! I had like 3 or 4 little milk bubbles start to form and was all WTF!

Ooh, I didn't know but this is a relief to read! I pierced my nipples back in college and was always worried that milk would shoot out of the holes. Guess it doesn't matter!

@LindsayInNY: Mine were pierced too, and from my worried googling, it CAN come out the holes, but it's okay. I was worried scar tissue might block things, but apparently nipples are more like sponges than just a spout.

I even wrote a post about it!

@LindsayInNY: lol how freaked out would you be when it starts coming out in all directions if you didn't know that was normal!?! Like omg what did I do to my boobs… something is very wrong here… hah

I did not know until breastfeeding! But there is always that one spot where it comes out super high pressure!

@Foodnerd81: Colostrum is yellow? What I had was clearish... but my milk was late to come in.

@Foodnerd81: whoa! Mine was clear.

I didn't know that! DH asked why bottles aren't manufactured to have a stream like that, which I thought was a good question.
