We did, because my parents bought us the side rails to convert our son's crib to a full sized bed. So rather than taking the side off of the crib we just went to a full sized bed for him. He loves it! We transitioned him late - 34 months (i.e., a few months shy of age 3).

We plan to. Our crib doesn't convert into anything so I plan to leave LO in her crib for as long as she'll let us, then move her to a floor bed, then eventually move her to a regular bed.

We went straight from crib to twin bed at 26 months. She was regularly in the same spot in the mornings as when we put her to bed so I wasn't worried about her falling out.

@Mae: that's pretty much our plan- even though our crib does convert to toddler bed and full bed. We will probably need it for another baby around the time we are ready to move her to a bed anyway.

We transitioned over the weekend from crib to twin floor mattress at 24 months. The crib converts but we are expecting #2 in June and will use the crib for him.

@winniebee: we transitioned at the same time! The only reason we did transition is because he started climbing out and a few times got his leg caught in the slats, so it was more for safety than anything.
We just took the side off his crib though and kept it as a toddler bed. Putting off the cost of a twin bed for a few years.

Yes, our son started sleeping in double bed around 26 months. He started climbing in and out of the crib, which doesn't convert into a toddler bed. My husband built a side rail for his bed.

Yep. We did it at 24 months. We went to a twin with a removable rail. It was great! No regrets.

The plan was to convert her crib to a toddler bed and then move her to a twin when the baby came. She had other plans and climbed out of the crib and we found her in the twin daybed in her room the next morning at 19 months.
She likes to parent herself.

We went from crib to twin because I didn't want to have to buy an intermediate bed. If all goes well, DS will use the twin until he leaves home. Not yet sure what we will do for DD, but we will likely go the twin bed route as well.

I think we will. DS is one inch away from outgrowing his crib, and taking the rail off won't do anything for that problem

no. our crib converted to a toddler, and we weren't ready at the time with a full or twin bed. LO was violently throwing himself out of the crib to get attention so we needed to change ASAP.

We did, days before his 3rd birthday when he tried to climb out of the crib for the first time. He had a crib mattress on the floor for a few days and then we got a twin bunk (
Ikea Kura) with lots of railing around the top. He's had this about 3 months but still sometimes asks to sleep in his crib which is still in his room.

Our crib converts to a toddler bed but if we're expecting #2 before we take the sides off we might just go floor bed route. I'm definitely not buying a 2nd crib.

Pretty much, we took the front off her crib when she started crawling out, so that was close to a toddler bed for like a month before we bought a twin mattress and upgraded.

Yup, just transitioned DD from her crib to a twin bed 3 weeks ago at 15.5 months. The transition went so smoothly, it's kinda scary. Crib transitions to a toddler bed and maybe we will use that for DD2 when the time comes (due in 2 weeks, so that's a ways off).

Yes - we didn't have a convertible bed, and we needed the crib for the new baby, so we just put her in a twin bed and she loves it.

Yes, we were in the process of moving and staying with family for two months, so she moved to a very high double bed with bed rails at 23 months. She loved it so we went from that to a normal twin bed when we moved into our house a few months later.

No, we could just take the side off the crib to make it a toddler. Friends gave us the toddler bed rail so, this buys us more time to find a bed we really want for her.

We are going to go from crib to a full bed with rails in a few weeks (eek!)-- DD will be 31 months. Her crib converts but we decided we'd prefer to transition once (rather than first to a toddler bed and then to real bed) and will need the crib for baby #2 this fall so we want to give her plenty of time to adjust.

No. Although we live in NYC so fitting a twin bed and a crib in the same room just is not possible. but she and I both love it

my DD was already pretty big for her crib, so we put her straight into the spare king single bed. its quite low, and with safety rails on either side she's only fallen out once (kinda on purpose!)

We have a toddler bed, but when DS spends the night with my parents, he just uses a twin bed on the ground. I just wanted the smaller bed when LO2 will have to share a room--that's just too much stuff in a small space!
