I only have one, but I can see how an LC would still be helpful for a second. (1) Babies are different and probably have different learning curves and challenges with nursing and (2) your muscle memory may not still be there if you are used to dealing with a toddler rather than a newborn.
I will say, though, that I held an 8wo over the weekend and it felt so comfortable/familiar. I remember feeling very awkward and overwhelmed when my son was that small.

I used one for my third because LO was born a little early and had latch issues.

I used one for my first and I liked her but I kind of wished she had told me to try supplements. She said since my milk never really came in the supplements wouldn't help, they only help increase supply, not start it. But maybe my milk did come in and it was just a little bit, and could have used some help, I don't know. My son kept nursing (always combo feeding) until I went back to work at 12 weeks so it seemed like he was getting a tiny bit. So I would definitely want to work with someone again but I'd also educate myself better.

I attended a BFing support group at the hospital, hosted by two LCs, every week for probably 2 months PP with T. It was VERY helpful. I never BF'd E, so i was basically a noob with the boob

I went to see an LC once for baby #2. He would make a clicking sound when nursing and break suction, so I was worried about lip or tongue ties and wanted to get him checked by an LC.

Yes, I did. Ironically I never saw an LC with my first baby but I had much nire difficulty breastfeeding the second (wasn't prepared for that AT ALL!) My second was small, had a small mouth and chin and just couldn't latch properly, which in turn affected my milk supply. All is good now, but it was a rough few weeks!!

BF LO1 was extremely difficult and I saw several LCs. With LO2, it was so easy! I didn't have a single BF issue for the entire 14.5 months that I BF her.

I still went to the support group and did weighted feeds still.
Plus you never know what issues you may have with #2 that didn't come up the first time.

No, I had just weaned LO1 a few months prior. LO2 was born big, full term, and nursed easily.

I set someone up in advance to come to our house second day home from the hospital. With my first, all the nurses and hospital LC's said it was going great. I was in pain and had mastitis by the time I sought help. We went on to nurse 15.5 months. Nursing a newborn is different than nursing a toddler. I wanted an in home refresher and an additional professional to verify latch and positioning were good. We did not have any problems the second time, but I still felt the price of an LC was worth it. It gave me peace of mind.
