Was curious to see if others TTC have made any baby purchases? Or if anyone bought baby items before they got their BFP?
I personally haven't because I'm superstitious, but my mom has been collecting things for my future children at her house for years. Seriously. YEARS. But, at the same time, I keep seeing the most adorable clothes and want to buy buy buy! I keep telling myself that there will still be cute clothes when I am eventually pregnant.

Oh yeah. When I was 18 I had a desk job and I fully stocked my future girl's 12 month - 2T wardrobe from ebay.
It's a good thing I had a girl... hahaha

Didn't buy anything until I got my BFP, then bought two cute little onesies that said something to the extent of "I love grandma" and/or "Grandpa is the best." But we lost the pregnancy at 5w so I never used them to make the announcement. They are still sitting in my drawer, not sure if I'll use them to make any announcements in the future or whether it would just remind me of the m/c. Sorry to be a debbie downer 
But it doesn't prevent me from totally day dreaming (and researching) about gear! I think I'm too superstitious to actually buy anything although I know we'll use it one day!

I bought a 3 pack of onesies to use when I told DH. They sat around for about 8 months, hidden in the closet, but I was prepared when we finally got that BFP.

I haven't bought anything but I openly accept hand me downs and I have a significant amount of stuff accumulated including a crib, gear and a full wardrobe for a girl up to size 2.
I can't quite bring myself to buy anything yet but I am not sure why. I think if I found a good enough deal I probably would but I have so many bases covered I haven't worried about it too much!

@Littlebit: Yeah agreed. We have a designated nursery but for now are just using it as storage. I feel like if we had any baby stuff around it would just remind me of what we don't have (right now) and what we had but lost. I'd just rather have it out of sight out of mind for now. And then be excited to buy all that stuff when we have a successful pregnancy (although I don't know how far into it I'm going to wait to buy anything, probably at least wait the first trimester).

I bought DH an announcement gift (book and CDs) and gave him those. I joked that I should take them back until next time... We haven't bought anything else though.

I'm superstitious too! I didn't buy ANYTHING for the baby until I was 20+ weeks along!

In the year and a half I've been TTC I've never bought a single thing. I did go waaay overboard when my SIL was pregnant though, because all the cute things I'd see and want to buy for my imaginary baby I'd just buy for my future niece instead. Now I'm starting to do the same for my BFF who is pregnant. So maybe that counts? It satisfies my urges to shop in the baby sections without it being for my possible future baby.

@Shutterbug: I for sure buy tons of cute things for friends with babies, including just random gifts! So I guess that satisfies my urge to buy baby things, they just aren't for me

I bought a onesie to show DH when we get our BFP. And we're not even TTC yet. If I find something for our parents to help announce (like a frame or whatever) I'll probably buy it, but I doubt I'll get anything else until we're actually pregnant.

I have a few books that I bought as potential baby shower presents but will probably keep for myself. That is all I plan on getting.

No--it would make me sad to have them around. And a little embarrassed, like buying wedding magazines before you're engaged. I would feel like I had to hide the items, and when the time hopefully comes for me to buy things, I want to be excited and out in the open about it!
I do know it brings hope and comfort to others, and I get that.

DH is worse then I am!!!! He would have our house stocked if he could!! And we are only actively starting in November!! We bought a play pen and high chair ( but our nephew what's coming to stay for the weekend so he needed somewhere to sleep so instead of dragging my moms here we found a clearance set of both that we liked!!!) and have found a couple cute unique tshirts and onesies.
I have told him he needs to figure out how to tell his mom and buy it now so that we are ready. I have bought someone small to tell him and have it out away. I am not superstitious. We will have kids one way or another, or we will donate what we have.

I made a onesie to give to DH when we first started TTC, but that was it. And he ended up finding it before we got pregnant.
I wouldn't say I was superstitious about it, it just hurt to much to look at (or know was there at all), especially when the long process of TTC was taking such a toll on us.

I have bought lots of clothes before I knew I would be a mom. I have hoarder tendencies and am not superstitious but I also have lots of babies and kids in my life so I can pass it along if I don't need it later on.

Nope. TTC was a super spur of the moment thing and I got pregnant pretty quickly (I'm one of THOSE women). There was no time.

Nope. It took a long time for us to get our sticky baby (fingers crossed, currently 35 weeks). After the m/c, even the onesie my mom bought made me sad, so I didn't buy anything this time around until we had 2 healthy looking ultrasounds. Even then it made me nervous.

@swurlygurl: Holy crap, it's a REALLY good thing you had a girl. I used to be tempted by cute girl stuff, but its a good thing I didn't since we had a boy. Haha!
On our honeymoon (Disney World) we bought an adorable pillow to use in our LO's future nursery, but that was it.

Ok now you all just inspired me to go out and buy a book to tell DH when I do finally get a sticky BFP. It's a Dutch children's book called Miffy and is about a mommy and daddy bunny who want a baby bunny and then finally have Miffy
