My Mom never knew pumps existed so she never pumped! My MIL hand expressed and used manual pumps to express milk for an occasional bottle!

I was formula fed as a baby so no for my mom. I don't know if my MIL did or not, but I know she breastfed.

my mom worked in the newborn nursery, so she pumped... a lot lol. she said when she first went back she would letdown every time the babies cried! she donated milk & left milk for bottles for me or my brother. fortunately, because of where she worked, she had a hospital pump to use while she was working. neither my brother or i ever had formula. my MIL breastfed DH, but i doubt she had a pump.

She didn't. She would just hand express and waste milk when she got engorged during the day! I was ebf for 6 months and then got formula during the day and breastmilk at nigt

My mom didn't. She had a little manual one that she tried once and said it was awful, so she just stayed with us all the time. My brother and sisters and I were all EBF for about a year i think.

I don't think so. I was formula fed.

My mom pumped but only when she really needed to. She said she had to go to a wedding out of state when I was 11 months old so she diligently pumped to build a stash for the few days she would be away and when she returned I refused to go back to the breast so I self-weaned at 11 months.

I was EBF and my mom never used a pump. She'd manually express when she was engorged. She also EBF my younger sister and my younger brother and didn't pump either of those times.

My mom didn't...80's China, dirt poor in a small village. They probably didn't even know pumps existed! Did they?
Not sure about MIL, I know my husband was not BF because he was allergic.
