Yes or no?
I've started thinking about Lo's first bday party in November & wondered about this.
What will or did you do?

Ours will. Planning to make a white cakes and have whipping cream and berries instead of icing.

We gave C a special little cake and he poked it a few times but really wasn't interested.

I ordered one but she didn't know what to do with it. Luckily I made cupcakes too and she loved those lol

We did a cake smash shoot and he didn't really eat it, at his party he had like a bite but that was a month later (we waited for my husband to get home from deployment). On his actual birthday he birthday he got a couple bites of ice cream.

Mine did - he devoured it during his cake smash (we did a DIY cake smash shoot during the party).

Yup! I made her cake with just regular trader joes mix and she loved it!!

DD didn't really notice hers, at the cake smash pictures and her first birthday. DS, LOVED it! He made a huge mess at the cake smash pictures and an even bigger mess at his birthday. And, to make it worse, he got cake at his cake smash, on his actual birthday, at his combined birthday party with DD, and on DD's birthday. He had cake like every weekend for almost a month! Needless to say, he hasn't had any in awhile hahaha

We didn't do a cake smash because I'm not into them, and because she isn't a food "smasher". At her bday party, I made a strawberry lemonade cake and she got a slice; she poked it about 1937923846973 times, ate a bite or so of cake and a few licks of the icing and wanted nothing more to do with it.

We did cake smashes with both kids, and neither of them really ate it. DD fed most of hers to the dogs and DS cried because his hands were all covered in frosting, lol.

I made a little cake for her. She fed me the sprinkles, and that's about it. She's not a huge fan of sweets.

I plan on making a little cake for her from scratch - at least I can control the ingredients.

Ugh. We are SO not a good example on this. With Ellie I was ultra-strict, but Lorelei is a classic second child in this respect: by the time she was one she could say "cake," "cupcake," "candy," "ice cream," "chocolate," and "cookie." Because she had, you know, tasted most of them. It's been hard to keep her from trying or at least wanting to try what big sister has. At least I can say that all of it except for the chocolate (which was decent chocolate, so not too junky in terms of artificial ingredients) was made by me at home. So yes, sugar, but no artificial stuff. And it's not like she eats it all the time. 'K. Hiding in my little hole now...

We gave him cake on his birthday but he didn't eat more than a bite or two. Actually still at almost 2 he likes helping make cakes but doesn't really eat them.

We made cupcakes, he ate part of one and got blue frosting everywhere- it was so much fun!!

Definitely! I have what I consider to be a very heathy banana bread recipe so I made that into cupcakes and indulged in chocolate frosting. DS loved it.

If he's interested, then yes I'll let him. But, I will try to get most the frosting off....I can't eat it or watch anyone eat it. So sugary!

DD will. We plan on doing a cake smash. My sisters and I did them when we turned 1 so it is kinda a tradition in our family.
