M is 7 weeks old and she still nurses very frequently. For the longest time I thought it was just a growth spurt, but it's pretty much been going on since she was born. She usually only goes an hour or maybe an hour and a half between feedings. She does usually take one longer nap per day (2-3 hours) and her nighttime sleep is fine (we've been consistently getting a 6 hour stretch followed by a couple of 2 hour stretches). But during the day she is an eating machine.
She will nurse then 45 min later be crying again. I try singing to her, bouncing her, and walking around thinking there's no way she can already be hungry again, but as soon as I offer the boob she latches on and goes to town. A breastfed baby can't eat too much, can they?
Did anyone else have a baby that always nursed this often? I keep reading about how she should be going 2.5-3 hours between sessions and unless she's taking a 3-hour nap she has never even come close to going that long. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love nursing her, I just don't know if this is normal or something I should discuss with her ped at our next appointment.
