I used to burp my ds mid bottle but now I don't. 
He gets 4-4.5 ounces per feeding.

we would try, but he would rarely burp. we finally gave up about 2 months in.

Religiously yes, we would stop halfway through to burp. Right now LO takes 6-7 oz per bottle or 4 oz if she's also having food. When she takes 4 oz we don't stop mid way, and we are starting to experiment with her taking a full 6 or 7 oz bottle before burping. If she can do this without spitting up a lot, then we'll transition to that.

If he slows down we will burp him, otherwise no.

Only if she slows down now, if we take her bottle from her she SCREAMS and never egts a good burp out because she's so mad, it's best to wait until she's done and then try.

He'll get gas bubbles and start squirming and fight the bottle so he needs to be burped in the middle every time. He hates when we take the bottle away but he eats much more comfortably after he burps!

I never interrupted him to burp him; but if he stopped drinking mid-bottle I would burb him and then offer the bottle again.
