Do you dress your kids up for themed days at daycare/school?
I do! I love it! Today is superhero day.

Sounds like fun! The school had a Wacky Wednesday last year, which was really fun. Today LO gets to wear his costume for their Halloween Party, and it's going to be so cute seeing everyone with their costumes.

They do in camp, in the summer. They'll do pajama day, crazy hair day, things like that.

I don't go out of my way to purchase outfits specifically for themed days, but if she has something in her wardrobe that fits the theme, I'll dress her in it.

My LO isn't in school or daycare yet, so I always wonder about these things. Do the kids really like it (or have any idea)? It seems like one more thing for parents to remember and just a day that makes getting dressed a little more difficult than it has to be... But now my 2 year old is obsessed with her Halloween costume so I wonder if the kids really do love it?
So yeah, tell me how you really feel about those days??

I do - I think its fun! But I am with @avivoca: that I dont go purchase something special. That said - I have been able to make each day work with what we have.
Superhero, PJ Day, wacky day...lots of fun ones!

@Foodnerd81: I hate those days, LOL. Our new daycare doesn't do them as much, luckily. Though today was costume day and of course Declan didn't want to put his on. Our old daycare used to have sports themed days and pajama days and I don't even remember what else.
For one, I hate sports. And I buy 99% of D's clothes, so he doesn't own sports themed stuff. He has one Red Sox shirt that was gifted to him, and I did put that on him for opening day. I also hated PJ day, which was like once a week or something crazy. Even if he were to wear PJs to school, I still have to change his diaper in the morning. And then at school he gets art stuff and food all over whatever he's wearing. So then those PJs are done and have to get thrown in the wash. So I boycott PJ day too.
I have enough to do as a WOHM mom, I expect daycare to make my life easier. Not give me a ton of work and prep to do in order for him to fit in with everyone else. So please don't ask us to do homework at home (which happened once) or tell DH the night before that I need to bring in socks for puppets the next day, or have "red day" (I don't really buy red for whatever reason), or whatever silly crap the teachers decide to come up with. </rant LOL.

@Foodnerd81: I think it's fun! Most of the themes are pretty basic and you primal already own the stuff.

@ShootingStar: ha this is pretty much how I think I would feel too. For actual special occasions like Halloween or Christmas or whatever, fine, but I feel like have to remember wacky Wednesday would just irritate me. Maybe I'm a Scrooge though.

@BandDmommy: Haha, I hated my old daycare. If you can't tell, LOL.

We do if she has something that works. The first few they tried were pretty easy (animal day, PJs, all one color), but the latest ones have been hard (specific decades or countries, or "dress like a teacher"). I wouldn't buy anything for a theme day.

@Foodnerd81: I'm really glad my daycare doesn't do this. It just seems like SO MUCH WORK! I understand in school age kids because then they can help, at least a little bit. In daycare it's just more work on mom.

We try really hard to do them. But let me tell ya, with two to get to two different places in the morning it's not always easy. Today was crazy hair day for the older. But I also needed to have both of their costumes for the parade later today. It was a clusterf*@K getting out of the house this morning. Not to mention it's also costume day for ME! UGH! I need to go home to get my camera at lunch!

I kinda enjoy them. Plus when you have a 3 year old who doesn't want to get up and moving, it always works to tell him "today is _____ day." Even if it's a silly one, like wear red, he gets so excited

Yea if we have the appropriate clothes but I refuse to go but something for one day. I did put LO in a superhero onesie today since it's close to Halloween and she'll wear her costume tomorrow.
