I always hear people say that you should feel a "whoosh" when your letdown happens. I have never felt my letdown through BFing or pumping. I am wondering if it is because my supply is low.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Nope, I've never felt it. Pretty sure I don't have any supply issues either.

I don't, and as far as I know my supply is fine. I was worried but my LC said it's normal for some. I also never really got engorged in the beginning either, not sure if they're related?

@rahlyrah: I've been wondering the same thing! I don't feel anything at all when the goods start flowing, but I know she's eating! Thanks for posting, I was going to ask this myself.

Never felt it and I was pumping 12-15 oz per session. The LC I met with in the NICU said it was completely normal to not feel a letdown.

I never felt it when I was nursing/pumping for my first but I feel it now!

@rahlyrah: Never not even once! And I think one side has a forceful letdown bc H always chokes at first on that side!

I feel it in the other breast. It's not a whoosh feeling, it just feels a little strange.

I only feel it every once in a while, and it's certainly not a *whoosh* . . . it's more of a tingly sensation in my bewbs. Sometimes it is followed by a little leakage (when I am super full).

@Katrocap: Me too. I always felt it in the other breast and it was just like a tingly feeling.
I am still nursing several times a day at 14 months, but I don't feel the letdown anymore. Last time I did was the first time she STTN and I was super engorged.

Yup, but mine is painful! It's like a fist tightening around my boob, or a cramp.

I did - it was like pins and needles in my boobs and I hated it LOL

I feel it sometimes. It's like @MsLipGloss: said... Just a tingly feeling.

@MsLipGloss: @grizz: Same, and it's definitely only once in awhile. Usually happens when baby is crying and I haven't fed him in a few hours.

I never feel it an my supply sucks! Only 5 oz from 3 pumping sessions at work today. probably worse than normal because I'm sick.

I did. It was more like a muscle cramp behind my nipple than a "whoosh" though. I've always heard it's got nothing to do with your supply, some feel it and some just don't

yes, but i didn't feel mine until a month into breastfeeding. mine feels like a wave of pins and needles, and pressure. not painful, but weird feeling.

It's my understanding that a lot of women don't feel it. I never have other than on the very first day my milk came in!

not anymore but olive is 21 months. i used to feel it really strongly for at least the first year. the feeling got less and less as i had less milk.

I don't feel it and I have an oversupply so I don't think it's related to that!!
