I read somewhere that you're not supposed to freeze breastmilk that has been refrigerated. If that's the case, do you just freeze what you have pumped and waste the space in the bags if you only pumped 2-3oz?

I always did this, to measure out evenly before freezing. I've never heard it was wrong!!

I always refrigerate first to make sure I'm freezing even amounts. At night I mix whatever pumped milk I have to evenly distribute the fat and then pour it into 4oz portions. If there is less than 4oz left over I save it until the next day.

I refrigerate the milk for up to 5 days and then freeze whatever DS didn't drink.

if the milk stays in the fridge longer than 24 hours I just put it in the freezer.

sometimes I don't have enough milk for a complete portion so I put it in the fridge and freeze it later. I usually limit to one day in the fridge before I freeze.

I always freeze between 3-4 oz at a time, so when I'm at work DH doesn't have to worry about measuring out feedings. When I'm bagging what I pumped if I pumped say 7 oz, I bag and freeze 2 3 oz feedings, and then refridgerate the other oz until my next pump session. I never knew that wasn't allowed...

I've read that milk can stay in the fridge up to 7 days and it's still ok to freeze it.

I think you can't freeze, defrost, then refreeze. Kind of like meat.

You can freeze refrigerated milk but can't freeze previously frozen milk.

Huh. I don't freeze it and have thrown away sooo much milk probably as much thrown out as stored--or more thrown out. But... oh well.
Mostly I don't freeze it because I swear I *will* use it tomorrow. And then I don't.
