@mrs. pen, well shit, if it's squats that help, i'm set. Except....I'm not I was just reading that kegels only target some of the muscles, not all of them....ugh. I'll probably just have to have surgery at some point. Shit's gonna get real after a couple more kids

8 months PP.... I still have a pinched nerve in my hip/back that makes my left leg numb fairly regularly, wrist pain (which I'm hoping is more from holding a massive baby all the time and will subside), and one hemorrhoid (I cringe just typing that word) that just won't heal.

Hand and wrist pain-- which I thought was because I was reading on my phone while nursing for hours on end in the beginning!

And I believe a hemorrhoid, which only showed up several weeks after birth, certainly after my 6 week appt when everything was fine. Bleh.

@yoursilverlining: that's just like my episiotomy site and they suggested the same treatment. I just couldn't. I know I should, but..

@blackbird: I was just thinking of the surgeries that may be required after I hang up my childbearing hat. And none of them are cosmetic!

I could feel the where the epidural was placed for about 6 months. I was scared it would last forever, but thankfully went away! Oh, and sleep deprivation!

I think there should be a mommy surgery - fix all the incontinence, hemmeroids, boobs, and bellies all at once!

I had a rotated sacrum. Probably from pushing for 3 hours on my back. It took almost 2 years and lots of chiropractor appointments to get it back in alignment.

Yes. I have penetration anxiety. Which is just so great. *eyeroll*

I think that includes some nerve damage, the area down there is super sensitive.

I'm so depressed about the whole thing. I don't know if I'll ever have sex again....

I had a lot of foot pain and my feet would go numb during the night sometimes. It has pretty much resolved itself 2 years PP

I have so much back, tailbone and hip pain now too. When I was in labor I basically screamed "my butt!" from the moment I was admitted until I got the epidural...something about how LO was positioned it just killed my tailbone area. I'm so damaged

Yep with the peeing when I cough, or sneeze and don't brace myself, or do jumping jacks...

Also, I dunno what I did but I can't sleep on my side with my knees together anymore. I have to have one leg pulled up with my knee resting on a pillow. If I even try to sleep completely on my side I HAVE to have a pillow between my knees or I wake up with screaming pain from my hips to my knees.

Sleeping on my stomach makes me nauseous, and I had lower back pain around the epidural site off and on for almost a year.

@.twist.: definitely not alone...I feel like I have some nerve damage from the stitches/tears and am always super anxious and uncomfortable now when dtd. It sucks, for sure.

@Mrs. Bee: and anyone else with post-partum incontinence or intercourse issues, get a referral ASAP for a women's health physical therapist!!! I casually mentioned to my midwife that I was having a minor stress incontinence issue and she recommended PT. I was a little hesitant at first thinking my issue wasn't that bad, but then came to the conclusion that I am only in my 30's and way too young to be dealing with this for the rest of my life.

I only went for 4 sessions (what my insurance approved) and it made a HUGE difference, I have almost zero issues now. She taught me all kinds of exercises for the pelvic floor muscles, a lot of abdominal and core strengthening as well as different versions of kegals. It was amazing, it's now my PSA for any woman who has given birth!!!

@rachiecakes: It really sucks because I had to wait almost 15 months pp to do ab work because of very separated abs and then when I finally was cleared and met with a personal trainer to whip me into shape.....severe, burning, pain I can do crunches on an exercise ball, but have to take it really easy, much more than that brings on the pain. Blerg, I feel like I'll never get my abs back

@.twist.: I'm with you. Things are just not right down there, but since LO was born, two different doctors have told me that everything seems to have healed fine. Doesn't feel that way, though

@lovehoneybee: Yes! I have that thing with my knees, too. Totally forgot about it until you mentioned it. Weird, right? Like, of all things...?

Glamorous life we live, y'all. I had sciatica, but it seems to be getting better. Pushing gave me one doozy of a hemorrhoid and it still pops up at almost 15m PP - I think it's with me for life.

@Veggiemama: hmm interesting. you're right that i am too young to be dealing with this for the rest of my life! i have to talk to my doctor anyway soon...

  25. Mrs. Pen

    blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts

@Veggiemama: @Mrs. Bee: I actually did! I have the referral sitting and waiting but was waiting on a couple things with insurance before making an appt. the therapist is over an hour away too so it will be interesting scheduling an appt.

@blackbird: I talked to her about the bladder issues due to exercise and she recommended using a diva cup when I run/do cardio (like jumping) and it's helped!! It gets better everytime. She said the way the cup is positioned, it supports that muscle that gets damaged from childbirth and helps strengthen it. This coming from a doctor who has had four children and went through the same thing so I trust her!

@PurplePeony: you're not alone with the flatulence.

I have about 30 seconds to get to the bathroom when I first feel like I have to poop. If I don't go immediately it turn into this uncontrollable fart disseminator. I sound like a human whoopie cushion walking down the hallway at work... so loud. I want to die. It happened at dinner with my in-laws too. I essentially farted all over the dinner table when I stood up to grab something from the kitchen. No warning whatsoever that time.

Crazy thing is I'm not sure what hole the air even comes from. If it didn't happen when I had to poop I would swear it's from my vagina. Sorry, I passed graphic a few sentences back. My doctor seems concerned but he did a full exam looking for fistulas and can't find anything. It hasn't happened in a few months so I think it has gotten better (14 months pp now). I certainly don't test the limits of my 30 second rule.

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

I will have to mention it to my dr but it feels kinda pointless since we'll be ttc again this summer :-/. Maybe I will google some exercises and do them. Not opposed to a diva cup! It's just awful to go home smelling like urine. I'm willing to try it because if I'm having surgery, it's after I'm DONE. My mom still has this issue at 55 so I'm not going to wait forever for it to get better.

I'm fact there's a whole Crossfit video out there about peeing when doing exercises and it's meant humorously but it's also so true!

  28. Mrs. Pen

    blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts

@blackbird: I hear ya. I resorted to wearing pads for workouts.. It's gross but it helps! I still double up the cup and the pads just in case, but the last few workouts I've run for 2 miles and no leaks. I think I still may take the doctor up on her referral though... I may not ever TTC again and even if I do, it's a long ways away!

@Mrs. Pen: @blackbird: I did so many freakin squats while pregnant because our Bradley instructor said it would prevent tearing. Yeah well I had a 3rd degree tear but I don't have incontinence issues. So I'm glad to know maybe they were good for something!!

  32. Mrs. Pen

    blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts

@MamaJ: I did the god-awful perineal "massage" (more like torture) and I still tore too... who knows, maybe I would have torn worse though. It was still terrible though.
And I'm glad they did something! I wouldn't wish incontinence at our age on anyone!

Nothing too bad, other than can't lose these 10 lbs. I also have a patch of numbness on my right leg that never went away. And my c-section scar itches and burns sometimes.

I have pain in my feet that just won't go away and I am 20 months PP! It got a little bit better after my chiropractor adjusted it.

Other than that, I still occasionally have pain in my wrists. I had pretty bad deQuervain's for 6 months or so.

@Mrs. Bee: I second the women's health physio stuff. My husband is a physio and the physios he's worked with who treat these kind of issues have had amazing results. It can be pricey but apparently very effective.
