I didn't see my placenta after my first birth so I made sure I saw it after my second C-section. My OB brought it over to me after I was stitched up and he explained the different parts...I took a ton of pictures!

I wish I had seen it, but at the time I was so over it. Apparently it was sort of green from meconium though.

No way! But now that you've mentioned it, I would love to have seen mine!

Nope, but I got to review the pathology report on it with my doctor since I had issues with it. It had calcifications and "infarctions" which made me giggle when the doctor said it because it sounded like she said the word fart. So mature.

I never saw mine! I was kind of sick and out of it but I wish I had seen it.

I wanted to see mine and had asked to see it, but after delivery they were too focused on my hemmoraging.

No, but the funny thing is I don't remember much about my L & D but as they were stitching me up and my OB was like, "Ok, here comes the placenta!" I remember being like "Oh, what's it look like?" and him showing it to me and it was really so cool!!

I remember being so in shock that I had just had a baby, but I did ask to see it. I remember saying something about it looking so gross, lol

My doula took a pic of it. And my OB showed it and explained it to me. I thought it was pretty cool.

While pregnant, I was adamant I would never want to look at it. Lo was born, placenta was delivered and midwife asked if I would like to see it, so I did! Didn't take a photo though. I was pretty amazed at how big it was and the fact that my body created it to nourish my baby while she was growing inside me.

It never occurred to me to look at it...? I have to agree with @PrincessBaby: I have no desire!

My doula took one (the OB held it up for us to see). It was kind of cool to see it, but definitely didn't make it into the album!

hahah i asked to see it so they held it up for me to take a look, but i never thought of taking a picture!! hehe

No, I was pushing for so long that once lo was out, I was too tired to even think about the placenta! DH saw it and said it looked like an organ. I really wish I could have seen it! But probably wouldnt have taken a picture.

@autumnlove: WTF, NO!
That never even crossed my mind, like at.all.

I was too worried about my baby to care. They took him to check his head trauma right as I delivered it, so I was a mess!

@TurtleDoves: I can email them to you! Just kidding!

I didn't even see it! I was just so over it by then, plus pretty new baby to hold. DH did and now I wish I had of taken the time to have a look.

@autumnlove: bahahahhaha I saw enough that day. I need not re-live it!

I wish I did, too!! But from what my husband tells me, I'm not sure if it would have been a good idea to see it!

Mine was covered in meconium like everything else. That reinforced my tentative plan to not encapsulate. My midwife showed it to me after they rinsed it off.
I was surprised that it was bright red. My friend's husband told me how silvery and weird looking his wife's was. So that's what I was expecting. She's a smoker though so I guess that might be the difference? But no, I didn't take a picture.

It didn't occur to me to ask to see it! They had to take it to pathology so maybe they were focused on bagging it up for that.

Hell no. Ewww... Although, in hindsight, I should have. Next time, I will, to make sure for myself that its intact.

I saw it with DS, but no pictures. With S, I didn't see it, didn't want to. They didn't even offer, cause they had to get it sent down to the lab.

I'm a birth photographer, and my clients like for me to photograph their placentas. Usually, the midwives 'review' it with them, but they like seeing it later. I really love watching the providers analyze it (cord length, etc.).

I'm really not terribly interested in it. If they hold it up, sure I'll look at it, but it's not something I've thought about at all. And DH is definitely not interested!
