There are three rooms designated for nursing/pumping mothers at our work. Conference room, desk, phone, internet connection, locked door, blinds. One of the rooms was just fine, but the admin on that floor said that it was atrocious, so she made it into a "spa-room" for the working moms! Magazines, comfy chair, aromatic scent stuff, water cooler, etc.

Nope. My choice was the one-and-only conference room that is attached to my principal's office (um...no thanks). No one in recent years had attempted to pump at work--I ended up requesting a storage room off my library. I preferred the proximity to my desk and that it had relatively more privacy.

Nope. I pumped in the bathroom when I started working here when dd was 10 months. I'm nervous to ask for somewhere else to pump but I need to do it soon!!

Nope. I was "offered" the bathroom by my boss but our nurse clinical manager kindly lends me her office when I need it. Luckily I mostly work when she isn't there. Apparently I'm the first one not to accept the bathroom as an option!

Yes, several. Our local news actually recently did a story on my employer and the various pumping options/rooms at work, oddly enough!

They converted a storage closet into a pumping room complete with a mini fridge, magazines and a comfy chair.

Yes. We have a "lactation room." It basically just an unoccupied office, but there's a desk and chair and a mini fridge.

Yes, we have a Mother's Room. It is small, but it has a nice comfy reclining/rocking chair, a mini fridge for milk, internet connection, a table to put stuff on. I've actually been using it to put my feet up when I start to swell. My building is a very small % of women (mothers) so it's not in use right now, but will be on Monday when my coworker returns from maternity leave.

We have an unoccupied office with a desk, chair, phone and fridge.

We have a pretty basic mother's room. It has a regular desk chair, a desk area, mirror (?), power outlets, and mini fridge. Not exactly luxurious but it was sufficient and private.

I just started a new job and there is a room 6 feet from my desk which is super convenient. Absolutely no frills though. Chair, fridge, hand sanitizer and some really old magazines. It's fine though. there is a smaller satellite office where I work some days and there isn't a pumping room there. Still trying to figure out what to do there.

Yes. Our old office had 3 mothers rooms (one was designed as a mothers room - the other 2 were converted small offices). Our new office has 6 mothers rooms! They are all so nice!

Yes, we have two Mother's Rooms at my work. Each has a small table, a sink, a mini fridge, outlet, and both a desk chair and a more comfortable chair. It works.

We don't have any special rooms, but I have my own office with a locking door so that will work.

We have an empty room that many people have used in the past. I prefer to use my office so that I can keep working while pumping.

@yellowbird: @MenagerieMama: I'm not sure if you're in the US, but there's a federal law that states that employers must provide a private pumping space that is NOT a bathroom:
Effective March 23, 2010, this federal law requires employers to provide break time and a place for hourly paid workers to express breast milk at work. The law states that employers must provide a "reasonable" amount of time and that they must provide a private space other than a bathroom. They are required to provide this until the employee's baby turns one year old.

No but I have an office. But my office in the new building has lightly frosted glass that you can see through so if I ever had another kid....I'd have to get a cover or something.

@babynumber1: Do you worry about people hearing the pump when you do it in your office? That's what I'd really like to do when I return to work after this baby is born, but I'm self-conscious about the pump being too loud for my neighbors.

When I was in the states none of my employers was large enough to qualify for mandatory mother's rooms. I don't know what I would have done. Sit my desk and pump while my boss works next to me... No thanks!

Not an official pump room, but a vacant office next to the kitchen. It worked well!

@yellowbird: Do you mean that your company has less than 50 employees and is too small for that law to apply to the company in general? Because being "exempt" usually refers to whether you have to be paid overtime or not.

There is a room. But it is on the other side of the building, 5 min walk. And I was told it was always occupied. You can't sign up for times. So I just used a storage room so I could pump at the times I wanted and needed too. Plus it saved me time walking back and forth. I just put the milk in a cooler and in the fridge with everyone's lunches.

@SeptMomma12: no one will hear your pump! I had my pisa in a vera bradley bag and stuck a sweater on top to muffle any noise because out office is super quiet and No one could hear. I stopped caring about a week in anyways!

There is, but I never used it. It is several floors up and I have an office, so it was just more convenient to stay put. Also, I didn't feel right about taking the space away from moms who worked in cubicles or shared offices and therefore really needed the privacy.

Yes, though it gets converted to other uses when there's nobody who is pumping. We're a very small company so most of the time it isn't needed for pumping. It certainly will return to its status as a pumping room in a few months though, when I come back from maternity leave. It's basically a small office with a door, window (which will be papered over), and internet/phone/outlet.

Bahahahha ha. I had to pump in a closet inside of our special Ed/ resource center. I could hear my students and then knew I was in there. It was bad.

Our office floor was renovated 4 years ago and a mini-kitchen was turned into a "post-natal room." I should check it out sometime. I know there was a fridge and sink in there pre-renovation but I have no clue what it looks like now or how to access is. I think it's just open unless you lock it from inside?

We do not and it is about to get interesting! There are 4 of us pregnant and due April, May, July and September. My organization has 130 employees so technically we should.

Ours is an empty closest that locks from the inside. There's a small table and chair in the room, but that's it. There's not even an outlet but an extension cord to put under the door to get to a hall outlet

Nope, but the only women to get pregnant lately all have their own offices so it hasn't been a need. I'd prefer to pump in my office anyways!

Uh, no. My boss told me to pump in the bathroom. A coworker cleaned out a storage closet for me, and I pumped thee for many months before moving to a vacant office.
