We're really close to one former nanny, and email with her pretty regularly. We didn't click in the same way with another nanny, and haven't kept in touch.

I was a nanny for 9 months and we stayed in touch for a year or two after, no contact now.

I nannied for a year for a family with twins and I tried to keep up contact but they didn't seem interested.
I nannied for another family for a year and a half (and only stopped because I got pregnant!) and we keep in touch via Facebook and I go to their birthday parties/events and vice versa.

I've been a nanny for several families - and have stayed in touch with three families! The few I didn't is because it was short-term, didn't get as close, etc... but anyone I was with for a year+, I've stayed in contact with. Two of the families are local to me and I see both fairly regularly, and the other lives near DH's family and I see them whenever we go out there. I love it- it means so much to me!

I haven't with any of the families I nannied for. One did invite us out on their boat shortly after I stopped working for them, but I wasn't able to at that time and they never reached out again. I probably should have, but I'm all socially awkward and weird so I over thought it and stressed myself out and didn't.
I did stay in touch a little with the last mom, but it got awkward because I was pregnant the first time when I left them, and had to tell her about the miscarriage when she asked how I was doing. And then later we talked occasionally and she was pregnant again, and I wanted to check in and see how she was doing but I had lost R and she knew I was pregnant, so if I asked how she was she probably would have asked about me and that just would have been hard to go into. So I let it drop. I do wish she was on FB or something so I could have stayed in touch that way without having to directly explain everything.

Yes, we loved her because when we came home from the hospital we were absolutely clueless and our nanny had raised 4 kids of her own. She was an absolute life saver. I don't know what I would've done without her. She bathed our newborn properly until I wasn't terrified about doing so, she taught us everything. She seems to love DD like one of her own too. I was so sad when we had to move. We still e-mail, we are in different countries now and she just sent us a gift!
