Usually something if I have time. I don't want the sitters to starve.

When I was a sitter I wasn't left dinner or money for it. I brought my own snacks. Didn't realize one should.

When I was sitting and had to feed the kids there was always enough for me too- pizza delivery or whatever the family had for dinner. If I came over after kid's dinner I wasn't a meal. Snacks & drinks were available though.

Yes, we get dinner for MIL or my friend when they babysit.

Yes, and snacks. When I babysat in the city people generally left money and menus for take out, or had food that wasn't "kid food" (like, not boxed mac and cheese)

Always!
If it's my mom or brother, sometimes I'll just leave a super simple recipe with all the ingredients assembled - but most of the time I make it, then put it in the fridge.

When I was a sitter the parents always made sure there was enough of whatever was being served for me to eat too. Now as the parent I leave cash for takeout. I never wanted to eat what the kids were eating so I don't expect my sitters to also! Oh and I also buy soda and snacks for the sitters, which we never eat ourselves.

We offer money and a list of places that deliver. Both our sitters have brought their own food with them though. We add the $20 we would have left for dinner to their pay.

Oh wow. We have never left dinner. But I always am sure to be stocked with snacks and drinks and I point it out! I guess we usually get sitters on the later side.

I think I've been messing up, too, but we include car fare home in instead of a meal.

I usually cook dinner for them (so far, it's just been family) but I would do the same for a sitter that wasn't.

@hellobeeboston: I think time makes a difference. We have only gotten sitters twice for longer periods (3pm-12) so it fell over dinner. If it's not until 7-8 I would make sure we had snacks.
