Yup. DD ate two bags of chips at the last party we went to. She's never had them before!

Yes! We don't do a lot of sweets and pop at home, generally, so they think it's a pretty big deal! Besides, what's a party without cake and pop and sugar.

Yup, they're free to indulge! They usually don't eat too much cake, but usually have tons of juice and snacks!

@Mamaof2: definitely! I usually share a slice with both girls!

I would love it if my son indulged. I mean, sometimes, he won't eat the pizza that is served and he often refuses the cake if the frosting is too crazy of a color.

yup
I think all J ate on Saturday was a muffin, ice cream, cake and french fries.
He was so exhausted from his birthday party that he fell asleep at 7pm and woke up the next morning at almost 8am, lol

Yes, he eats things he normally doesn't but we do limit the quantity. He'll go a little nuts on cake.

@autumnlove: he loves chocolate cake, but he is suspicous of blue, purple and green icing!

Yes and No. We have a lot of food restrictions. So I let him eat a crazy amount of fruit instead. He doesn't mind.

Yep! LO had three juice boxes, cake, ice cream, jello and cheese puffs this weekend. She couldn't stop! I felt kinda bad because I thought she'd feel sick, but she still ate dinner too

She kind of indulges daily. We went to her cousins parry and she loved the cake!! But loved the dang cheese tray more.
pineapple / 12566 posts
Of course! But I've never noticed him going crazy. I don't think I've even seen him eat a whole slice of birthday cake, I always offer to help though.

@swurlygurl: I can't get that girl away from cheese. Every cheese counter at the grocery store she whines as well!

Yes - but we aren't really strict with food so he indulges often. But at this point, he is usually too preoccupied at parties to stop and eat.

Yes. We had a small bday party for her last weekend them got her a cupcake on her actual bday - she practically inhaled the whole thing!!

I have one that doesn't like sweets, so she won't eat cake. But they both love juice and don't get it at home, so that's a huge deal at parties.
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
Totally. She won't drink anything other than water though & she's only 15 months so basically her form of indulgence is walking around begging everyone for more & sitting on the ground while she eats lol she's a piggy.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
Oh yeah. If there are juice boxes, she gets so excited because she doesn't get juice at home or at daycare.
pear / 1510 posts
Yep - that's what parties are for! LO looooooves juice and we never have it at home, so she gets really excited.
grapefruit / 4110 posts
It's complicated. He has allergies so there is often things he isn't allowed to have. But we do bring our own safe version for him. He really isn't into sweets so he takes a few bites and is perfectly happy to throw it away. So we don't put restrictions on it because he does it on his own.

Yes, but if there is regular food being served she is expected to eat her "meal" first and then cake/ice-cream/whatever.
She never gets juice at home/school so if she's at a party and she gets a juicebox, she goes nuts and drinks it allll at once! So, after the first box, she has to drink water or milk :P. I just tell her she can only have 1 since we have to "save them" for the other guests haha
