I'm getting ready to start building a freezer stash, I go back to work in 5 weeks. Do you pump into bottles or storage bags? I feel like pumping into bags would be easier. Do you have to order a special part for that?
I have the Medela Pump in Style. I've looked online and can't seem to find if there's a special part to pump into the storage bags.

I pumped into bottles! I pumped into the Ameda bags (with adapters) a few times but I was paranoid it would spill!

I thought about pumping directly in the bags, but couldn't work out the logistics in my head and I was too afraid to try it in case it didn't work and the milk spilled everywhere.

I bought the medela bags that 'attach' (with a glorofied piece of tape) to my pump but it' was a PITA for sure. I much prefer to pump into a bottle then transfer to a bag. (Lansinoh bags were my fave)

I pumped into bottles since I wanted the exact same portion in every bag and most of the time would not produce the same amount on each side... also if I pumped extra I would add it to another bag, and it would have been more difficult to do this if I pumped straight into the bags.

Medela storage bags come with 2 adapters that hook the bag up to the pump. I have never used them so I am not sure how they would work.

I pump into bottles and then transfer them into the Laninsoh bags. It's much easier to transport the bags home than a bunch of bottles.

I pump into bottles and then mix the day's milk at night to evenly distribute the fat. Then pour 4 oz into every bag.

What kind of bottles do you use? Playtex has the drop ins that you can pump into with the adaptor, then store with a cap, then drop in the bottle to feed with!

Thanks all! Since the majority pumps and then pours into storage, I think I will go with that method!!!

@CarrieLouWho: I pump into bottles then pour in Lansinoh bags as well. Sometimes I could only pump say 1-2 ounces, so pumping into a bag in that instance would make no sense because I freeze in 3-4ox portions. That way I could pump a few sessions and add the milk together, then freeze.

I pump into bottles and pour into bags. I freeze in 3-4 oz portions just like Bao, actually!
I would never pump into the lansinoh bags (or maybe any others) because I've noticed what is clearly 2 oz in a bottle, say, is NOT at the 2 oz mark in the bag! its bizarre. I wouldn't want to count on that.

Because I'm an exclusive pumper, I pump into the bottle and feed LO directly from that. When I pump a lot then I'll pour what I won't need into a lansinoh Baggie & freeze

Into bottles but I've tried pumping into the Medela bags with the attachments but it wasn't so comfortable and kind of a pain to do.

I pump into bottles and then pour into bags. I like pumping into the bottles cause I like to know exactly how many ounces are in the bag. It's hard to measure using the bag measurements. They were never accurate for me!

I pump into bottles because I use what I've pumped to make DS' bottles for the next day. Anything leftover gets poured into Lansinoh bags and froze; if I'm lucky I have 2 oz leftover each day.
Pumping directly into bags never seemed like a good idea to me because of how I do it but also because I'd be afraid the bags would come off the pump and I'd lose the milk.

I pump into medela bottles and never have to transfer the milk. I jut send them to daycare with LO the next day. Makes it way simpler!
Also, I find that the measurements on the bags are inaccurate so you may not know how much you're actually pumping if you pump straight into them.
