Pumping moms, do you keep pumping over the holidays and on weekends? I'm having a really hard time keeping my supply up and I'm off until next Monday. Should I keep up with my pumping schedule at 9, 12, and 3 even when nursing him? Do you typically pump on weekends?

I always kept the same schedule, no matter what.... Your boobs don't know it's a holiday or weekend lol!

Unless you exclusively pumped I don't see the point of pumping when baby is with you?
If I'm still up 2-3 hours after baby went to sleep and I'm not dead tired I might bust out the pump. More likely I just hand express 1-2oz just to make sure I'm not engorged and stimulate the supply. -
No, I nurse on demand when we are together. DD is 10 months. Earlier on I would pump every now and then (Max 1x per day) on weekends/holidays to build up a little reserve.

@regberadaisy: @catomd00: Thanks. My instinct was I just replaced pumping with nursing. But last week was rough meeting his basic demand, I didn't pump on the weekend and Monday was the worst day so far. So I thought maybe I was doing it wrong.

@Little Misters Mom: I think if you nurse on Demand you'll be fine! Maybe pump before you go to bed to build a little extra supply if you want.

@Little Misters Mom: your baby will do a much better job stimulating than the pump. So you will be fine! Don't stress yourself with pumping! Enjoy the holidays with your family!

Sorry, I think I misunderstood the question/your situation. I agree, if you are going to be nursing when you would normally be pumping then I don't think you need to keep your pumping schedule.

I will nurse on demand but still pump once in the morning (this is when I am at my fullest). Works well for us!

I nurse on demand when with lo, except if she refuses and I feel engorged (she sometimes has a bottle preference) and at night before bed if she has been asleep awhile

When I was still pumping, I always pumped at least once on the weekends and days when I was home with the baby. It was the only way that I could keep up my supply. If you are having trouble keeping up your supply, you should probably add a pump session (as much as that sucks...and man, does pumping suck!). Good luck!

@Little Misters Mom: I always tried to get in a session on the weekends/holidays just to give me some breathing room throughout the week. My LO consistently drank 12oz a day until 9-10m and to get that, I'd have to pump 3x/day for 30 minutes and it was really hard to find the time for the 3rd pump session at work so the extra on the weekends was really nice! Sometimes I even got to freeze a bag!
ETA I never pumped in lieu of nursing on the weekends, it was always in addition to nursing. I knew he would only take one side in the morning because I'd be so full so it was easy to pump the other side for an extra 3oz, which if I did Saturday and Sunday, gave me an extra 6oz for the week, which was half of a day's milk!

I never ever pump when I'm off work. Defeats the point for me.

@Little Misters Mom: I would nurse on demand when home with baby, and pump once in the evening before I went to bed. Or sometimes instead pump after the first morning feed because I would get more.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to try to do one pump session a day just to build up a little wiggle room and keep my body used to the pumping.
