We bought a house when I was 8 months pregnant ...so of course schools were a big priority for where we looked.

Most definitely. DH and I househunted together a year before marriage, but school systems was definitely on our list of "keep in mind"... While we aren't in our forever home, the school district in our area is a blue-ribbon system and will definitely suffice for our future kids' early elementary educations.

Unfortunately the schools around our current home are pretty bad. There is a lot of gang activity at the nearest High School and there is low-income housing next to one of the closest elementary schools. I think we will be moving to a different area before our child hits High School.

We have 13 years or so until then, so our plan is to pay down the house as much as possible so we don't have a big mortgage when we move. The bummer is - we LOVE our house and our lot and know we won't get anything like it if we move closer to the city or towards where we both work.

Sometimes. We're going to have to make a huge choice to move or stay in about 5 years... coinciding with LO's entrance into kindergarten. In our current school district, our town has independent schools and they are wonderful. If we moved, we would have to consider schools and I shudder to think of having to do that all over again.

I haven't really. When we move I'll think about it but right now it feels out of my hands. We'll move in 2-1/2 years and I have no idea to where so I feel like it's not something to think about until I at least know what part of the country we'll be in. But when we are looking for a house we will consider school district.

Yes, because I am thinking about supplementing preschool part time with a Montessori homeschool program. I am not worried about elementary school just yet because so much could change!

Yes, I'm newly pregnant and we're house hunting. Schools are a very important factor into our house search!

For sure it was a big deal, although we knew we'd buy a house in the town where I grew up, and our LO's will go to the same elementary I went to and they'll have their choice if High Schools when that time comes, but all of the schools around here are pretty good.

I think about it alot. We are living overseas now but I really worry about what we would do if we were to return to the States. I've read so many stories online about how the school systems in the states are having problems, financially and dealing with classroom size, etc. It's something we won't have to seriously think about for another 6 years probably but it is definitely a big worry for me.
