Usually by the time I get my 4 week old to feed, changed, and back to sleep again 2 hours have gone by and I don't want to wake her up 5 minutes later to start the process all over again. I figure she'll wake if she's hungry, or I'll wake her if it's been more than 3-4 hrs during the day. Do you wake your LO to feed?

Once she regained her birth weight I did not wake to feed. I only woke her from naps if they were over 3 hours so that she would understand the difference between day/night sleep.
At some point (maybe around 3 months) I stopped changing diapers in the middle of the night too. Makes it so much easier to just get up and nurse and put back down.

I stopped waking him to feed at 3 weeks, when i learned he gained a pound in the previous week. He is 10 weeks tomorrow and thriving with a nurse-on-demand schedule.

when she was 4 weeks old I did wake her to feed. she ate every 3 hours. Now she is 9 weeks old and I wake her during the day every 3.5 to 4 hours, otherwise she will sleep all day and not sleep at night. I let her sleep all night though unless she goes past 10 hours and then I wake her

I've never had to wake LO to eat. She makes herself known when she's hungry.

At that age they can still have their days and nights mixed up so I would wake after a 3 hr nap (~4 hrs between feeds) but I would never ever wake at night!

I made sure my baby was awake at timed intervals to eat for the first few weeks. Initially I would wake her every 3 hours during the day, and at least every 4 hours at night to feed (I was establishing my milk supply). After a couple of weeks I stopped waking her at night b/c I figured it was most important for baby and me to both get rest at night.

I plan on waking my baby during the day for feeds, and feed-on-demand at night (possibly waking him for night feeds until he hits 8 lbs? I dunno, I'm a first time mom.)

I try not to let her sleep more than 3 hours at a time during the day. It's SO HARD to wake a sleeping baby, though!! She's only 2 weeks old and I've decided not to wake her every two hours at night anymore, I can't handle it. If she sleeps 3-4 hours at a time at night, so be it. The better for us!

LO was a sleepy baby in the beginning, so I'd wake her up every 2-3 hours to feed. Once she regained her birth weight though, the doctor gave us the OK to let her sleep as long as she wants. At that point, I never woke her up (day or night).

Like @thehistoryofus, once LO regained her birth weight we didn't wake her to feed. She was a hungry and sleepy baby the first few weeks and got up every 1.5-2 hours during the day to nurse then went right back to sleep. At around 4 weeks she was sleeping up to 3 hour stretches at night and I never woke her. I also stopped changing Lo's diaper if she does wake in the middle of the night to nurse - just pick up, nurse and back down. Much easier!
