Does your body release a hormone after you give birth that sends a message to your breasts to start producing colostrum? At 36 weeks I bent had any leaking and if I try to express nothing happens (tmi, sorry!)

My body missed the memo on how things were supposed to work. I leaked pretty early in pregnancy, but then when it was time for the actual milk to come in there was nothing. Hope you have a better time breastfeeding! Were you able to get some research done on bedrest?

You do get some hormone surges that are supposed to help.
I only leak tiny drops and only sometimes (37 weeks), but of all the things I worry about, this is not one of them.

I didn't have any leaking during pregnancy, but lo and behold when DD was born, the nurses helped me to breastfeed, and there were little drops of colostrum! Unfortunately after that my body failed to get the memo, and my milk didn't come in...

I've always wondered this about scheduled C section mamas... How does their body know they delivered?

The body really does know usually.
@daniellemybelle: I'm a c-section mama and I didn't check before I gave birth. But immediately after giving birth the nurses checked me and were like, "Oh wow things are looking great!" They were happy about the colostrum I had I guess? I also tried to be proactive and pumped when possible in the hospital with their awesome pump and a couple of days later my milk came in without a problem.

I didnt have any leaking. A few tiiiiny drops of colostrum at like 37 weeks, but thats it, and I really had to squeeze and work for it lol. I had a scheduled c-section (so no labor ot anything that would trigger a natural hormone release) and my milk came in FULL FORCE 3-4 days later. I had porn star boobies. Seriously, they were humungous (and I was a small C cup to start lol.) But then they went down. So yeah, the body just knows somehow. Insane

i didn't have any leaking prebaby. charlie was born on his due date via c section, and my milk came in on day 4. amazing that your body does just know even if you have a c section!

No leaking for me either ... It was funny after I delivered the nurse asked if I wanted to try and feed her & my response was "wow you mean they already work!" Lol they do.

I wonder if going into labor and giving birth sends off a hormone to begin producing.
