I know a lot of kids in other areas have already started back to school and it got me thinking about days off during the year. My LO goes back September 13th (a week after the district we live in), which is super late compared to a lot of areas. However, they don't get a ton of random days off during the year. Just the occasional one plus the normal holiday breaks.
Does your LO's school have a lot of days off?

No. I think the early start has more to do with an early end than days off. The kids here start in early August but they are done by early/mid May.

Yeah, they do have a ton of days off, in addition to half days. It's a nightmare for a working parent household, not going to lie.

It seems like there are many teacher training days in addition to just vacation days. We start 9/6 and end mid June, but it's a private school. Not sure what happens when he starts public K in a year.

@Bao: School begins on 1 September, ends 16 June. School year is 181 days, the number of full days through each month varies between 15 and 23 days.

We have all the normal holidays, plus 1 week for Thanksgiving, 2 weeks for winter break, 1 week in February, and 1 week for spring break in March/April. They start towards the end of August and get out in the middle of June. We will have to pay extra for camps during the weeks they are closed (except for Christmas as I usually have that second week off).

Not too many random days but the holiday breaks are frequent and long enough!
